Stay or go? EU poll - Oh the irony.

It appears that after having defeated a bunch of pin headed Scottish nationalists in one referendum we now need to do it all over again with another troop of inbred little Englanders in another.0

How many years did that take to re-negotiate the CAP and then at the end of it did it really change the way the CAP works?.The CAP is still a fudge, it still gives far too much in subsidies to the big landownders in France and to a certain extent the UK.
I would remind you that in the 80's the EU gave farmers large subsidies for grubbing out all the hedge rows across Europe, increase field bounderies to maximise the income from crops but to the cost of the natural balance of the countryside. Then in the early 2000's they gave farmers across Europe subsidies for planting hedges to "create and enhance the natural balance of the countryside".
Go back 5 years and the EU gave huge subsidies to farmers for planting wild flower meadows to encourage wildlife, now 5 years on they are giving that same subsidy to farmers to grub up the wild flower meadows and plant peas. Big land barons claimed that the peas when flowering will attract the same number of wildlife (Bees, butterflies etc) as the wild flower meadows did. There is no sound scientific evidence to back them up btw. The EU were paid off by the landowners lobbiests.............again. We need bees etc by the way to pollinate crops.
I'm no tree hugger but !!!!!! its not difficult to get this right, just stop listening to lobbyists and big business.
Just 2 examples of EU incompetance within the CAP , there are planty more......
That alone sums up the EU. This is not just an isolated incident of incompetance on a huge scale. The EU bureaucracy is a cost to our society that we can do without.
Just to add , its in no ones interest to impose trade tariffs. The EU are not stupid, both the UK and EU need a good trading agreement.
Unease with the EU project is growing in many countries across the EU but the great and the good still believe they know what best for us, the great unwashed. If the EU were doing such a great job why is there so much resentment about them in the UK, France and even Germany its increasing.
Recently UK millionaires such as Paul Sykes and Arron Banks have switched to UKIP, are they naive fools?. Not that foolish considering they are self made millionaires.
Exactly the same bunch of twaddle the Scottish Yes camp were trotting out. They need us more than we need them, nothing will change, we'll still be in the club there just won't be a membership fee, everything the union does is designed to steal from us.

Wrong wrong wrong.
You lack confidence or as we call it down here b*llocks.
You think the EU doesn't need us but we wouldn't survive without them?
You think companies like BMW,Siemens,E-ON,Citroen,Allianz,AXA (the list is endless) will say f*ck the British we just won't deal with them?
The lights won't go out,the price of a BMW won't go up , other than the usual annual price increase, Siemens Electric will still build wind turbines for the UK and the world will keep turning .
Big business lobby Governments and form policy and they won't slap us with trade tarifs.
With a referendum its the only way the population get a real choice.
The reason Scotland stayed with the Union was simple, they were promised the earth and much of the promises were offered after 300,000 of them had already voted. The scare tactics of the 3 main Westminster parties succeeded but I hope the British public will be as gullible as those soft, naive Scots.
Try growing a pair rugged...........0 -

Of course Britain can survive outside the EU but it can't thrive.0 -

what criteria do you use to say that UK, a country of about 64 million can't thrive outside a federal collection of countries
but, say, a country like Australia a country of about 23 million can thrive alone
what are the key differences?0 -

1. Australia can't join the EU
2. Australia has huge problems trying to negotiate free trade agreements as a lone voice
3. Australia's export markets are hugely skewed towards Primary Products.
Partly that is because of an inability to compete fairly in other markets despite have virtually tarrif free imports.
4. Australia's access to external markets are largely subject to political will: foreign Governments can and do switch off Australia's ability to trade.
Seriously, ripping up all that because you'd like fewer Polish people coming to make a positive contribution to your economy is extremely stupid.0 -

so in your view the average Australian would love to be able to give up their sovereignty, control of their immigration policy, increase the cost of electricity and fuel, extradition policy etc but no-one wants to rule over them?0 -

You're exaggerating. The UK hasn't given up her sovereignty, control of borders or anything else. We're in a club where we are active participants in setting the rules. Our position is a negotiated one rather than an imposed defeat.
Admittedly it's becoming more untenable by the day as UKIP are intent on damaging relationships from within to force an exit and Cameron is admirably demonstrating what a spineless git he is by hopping on the bandwagon.
Aren't you finding it difficult to sleep at night knowing you agree with Graham on anything of any substance?0 -

I wonder if Nigel Farage sits in his home telling his family that he's sick of having his personal liberties taken from him by them, while implying that he doesn't have any influence over how the household is run and threatening to leave. If you think of it as 'us' verses 'them', then it's probably your side that are the villains.0
