Brilliant service here from a broadband only customer. Took the broadband only option 5 years ago, because my parents pay for the line rental. Only once have they tried to get to sign up to their telephone package, and they've never been pushy about it.
  • I would be interested in getting no line rental package but how?

Cannot find any rental free packages on the Plusnet web site and the link on MSE does not work for me.

Could somebody please post a direct link to the offer

Here. You still need phone line that has paid line rental on it, but you don't need to take it up with Plusnet. Another thing to note though is, taking broadband only will up you price by £2.50 (I'm one of the lucky ones that had broadband only before that came into force).
  • I have two phone lines with two different numbers - one for me and one for the kids.

Submitted an order to transfer the SECOND line to PLUSNET.

They then managed to place their order on the FIRST line.

So I have now lost my number that I have had for 16 years and have TWO SEPARATE phone lines that dial out showing the SAME number.

    Spent a whole afternoon:

    a) for PLUSNET to insist it could never happen - but I can prove it is and have two phone companies billing me for the same phone number;

    b) after suggesting I should try to get the OTHER line renumbered, because of their error .... they finally promise to restore my original number within 48hours ... do they? Yeah right ....

So how do I get my original number back???

    This is a nightmare ....

Plusnet have sent out a batch of their routers with wrong MTU installed so that the internet doesn't work consistently. The routers are fairly well locked down so that settings cannot be seen or changed by the customer. I will leave when my contract is up.

Broadband only someone was asking for.. £12.49.

If you're thinking of joining Plusnet they have the worst customer service I have ever encountered. 20min wait times for someone to answer the phone are the norm. Their staff make promises they don't keep i.e. saying someone will call you back over an issue. This has happened twice today. As long as you don't have a problem the service is ok but if you have an issue god help you. I've been trying for 2 days to advise them Im moving house and they couldnt care less. Whoever says they're award winning is an idiot.
Been waiting 40mins now at 10pm and still no answer, award winning?!?!?

I've had no broadband for a week swtiching from TalkTalk to PlusNet. (order placed 21st July, TT cancelled me on 11th August, online with PN as of 18th August)

The home phone went through ok, but they said my Broadband (BB) order was "stuck in the system" at their supplier (BT Wholesale), and the only thing they could do was cancel the BB order and re-start it with a 5 to 7 day delay.

I'm online now, with a decent download speed (50% quicker that TT was at the moment) but my experience with their support has so far been very poor. eg 30 min wait to talk to someone, who then can't put me through to the activation team - being invited to chat online regarding my issues, and then being told in chat I can only talk to activations on the phone - being told I'd be called on my mobile when my BB order completed, then receiving a voicemail on my home phone that the order had completed, when in fact only the PHONE order had completed, but I was still without BB!

As a result I've had to buy mobile internet to stay online, and work at a friends house (needed VOIP not supported by my mobile internet)

And now checking my details, I can see a "cessation charge" of £30 (upon cancellation) on my account, with "activated" against it. I'm hoping that this won't be a fee applied for the above "cancel and restart" order) but the fact I'm writing this (I never posted on here about TalkTalk in several years) is testament to the confidence I now have with PlusNet. All I can do is keep my fingers crossed nothing goes wrong, because I have little confidence in PN support already.

One last thing I noticed - on TT I always seemed to speak with someone with a foreign accent (indian maybe? - but not too long wait times, and tbh they seemed efficient, even though always trying to flog me more services). With PN the voices are all english. Perhaps PN get better-than-deserved marks for support because of this?

I've had a similar experience to the above. Phone went live on 6/8/15 but the broadband was delayed. "problem with the supplier" they said. The broadband went live on 19/8/15 and at that very moment the phone line went dead. They have mistakenly ended my phone package. Of course, this means I still have no broadband. They are sending an engineer out tomorrow to hopefully resolve the situation. I feel like sending the router back and cancelling the direct debit. Why should I be paying for a service I'm not receiving.

Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.
