Used to feel confident with Plusnet. But after they hacked into my computer to place thereon 2 'apps' which I said I did NOT want, and then charging me for them, I complained to their CEO and Trading Standards. Plusnet said it was impossible for them to access my computer - but then promptly re-accessed it to REMOVE the offending items. I now feel they do not tell the truth, I no longer feel secure as I know they can place ANYTHING they like on my computer without my knowledge or consent.

You can prevent this by wearing a tin foil hat.

I'm confident in saying that we do not 'hack' our customers computers. From the sound of it you've downloaded and installed either Plusnet Protect, Plusnet Assist or both. You should be able to remove these via the normal add/remove programs area on your computer.

They have already been told that in this thread (post #47) but still insist they were hacked.

Edit :- Just noticed this thread is eight months old, they have resurrected an old thread to spout this rubbish.

Yep and nor did they respond to my questions when asked exactly how PlusNet could install a program on their computer.

I did NOT download them. Neither did I remove them - PLUSNET REMOVED them after I had contacted the CEO and Trading Standards on whose records it is logged.

As you have been told several times Plusnet do not hack customers computers, if you want to believe they do that is your misguided opinion but stop posting misleading information on these forums.

How did they manage to install these programs then?

Did you use the CD to install the router or did you setup the router manually?

  • Made two applications for PlusNet's basic Broadband within 30 minutes of each other for two premises I own
Premises 1 - Engineer failed to call on appointed day - PlusNet stated there was no order - although they had deducted rental etc and had emailed appointment time. Order restarted - one month later line working - waiting for broadband. 100 mile round trip and a full day waiting in, and no broadband for the last month
Premises 2 - After applying email received from PlusNet with incorrect telephone number for me - PlusNet informed and they stated it was temporary, told them I wanted to retained my telephone number of 29 years. PlusNet now tell me I'm stuck with new number - breaching Article 30 Directive 2002/22/EC and the Communications Act 2003. Now lets go and get hold of Ofcom (for their consent to pursue PlusNet for civil litigation purpose)
A one off problem but for both my applications mmmmm??

    Low cost isn't everything

Especially when it ends up being high cost when you terminate the contract early because you aren't getting a usable internet service.

Online broadband guides are either 10 years out of date or they are rigged, if a company like Plusnet can get into the top three. I will never use them again.
