Ooh!! I've never mastered the art of making white or cheese sauce so always use jars and packets. Never lived near an Adsa before so always good to get recommendations about which of their own products are good or bad! Saves constantly buying things to try and not liking them, so big thanks for that :T
In other news, I failed at making the potato bake I had planned as I got distracted and boiled rather than par-boiled my potatoes so they were only really good for mashing! Woops!!However, it means the jar of sauce has gone into the cupboard to use another day, and as I had already chopped and cooked the leeks and bacon, I mixed them into the mash with a handful of grated cheese, heated it through again to melt the cheese, and now have a big pan of the most beautiful thing I've ever eaten!!!! Hooray!!!!!!!! :j The challenge now is to not eat it all tonight!!

I don't always bother parboiling the potatoes when I make this. I just leave it in the oven for a bit longer. Sometimes I swap the cheese sauce for vegetable stock. It's just as yummy and less fattening.£1000 Emergency Fund #175 - £598/£1000

Not been on here for a few days and have spent a further £11.58 (was a bit less but gave DD £5 to cover the few bits she paid for when we went shopping!); spent another £5.89 in Icel*nd yesterday; also bought some potatoes from the farm shop for 69p (11p a lb).
Total spend to date is £113.39/£250 which I'm happy with as over half way through my month (finishes 23rd).

Picked up a handful of bits from the Coop we needed that weren't available with the shopping and spent 4.30.
Had an argument with the husband last night about my menu plan. He wants meat with every meal and won't eat vegetarian meals because he's "a meat eater." Apparently he's not changing his thirtysomething years of eating habits! (I'm veggie btw.) Rah:mad:
I think he literally wants steak or a roast dinner every day :eek:0
