Very chuffed to report a NSD for me. There was only DS2 and I for dinner so just raided the fridge. I am going to do a meal plan for the rest of the week after I go through the fridge and freezer. :jDebt free as of 29.10.2020 🎉😁

Just popping by to recommend a recipe, I know we all love Jack and she has done me well tonight!
Bacon & Brie Risotto ... completely delicious! I picked up a small wedge of Brie YS'd to 50p so this was perfect! I also added a good hit of garlic and a splash of white wine I had leftover... absolutely gorgeous, will definitely have it again!
Also, from the 80p pack of cooking bacon I got this meal and another at the end of the week, I also managed to salvage a few slices to have for lunch tomorrow... :T
Edit: Wanttobe... cheese sauce is actually really easy, once you get the hang of it... my tip would be to make sure you add the milk quite slowly and make sure you deal with any lumps early on... that and don't be afraid to take the pan off the heat if it is thickening too quickly... other than that it's really not too bad, good luck and congrats on the pie!
I have made that Brie & bacon recipe before and loved itWe also replace the bacon with chorizo sometimes if we have it. Tastes really good
Thanks for the cheese sauce advice. All the recipes that I have seen look quite simple but mine always goes lumpy so I haven't tried again, but am going to make Cauli & Broccoli cheese this week so fingers crossed.0 -

Evening all
£4.74 spend today on some stuff for lunches at work, and a jar of potato bake sauce which I'm using this evening to make a cheesy bacon, leek and potato bake to use up stuff from the fridge. Yum yum!! :j This will do my tea tonight and tomorrow and I'll take some for my lunch at work tomorrow as well. Good job I don't mind eating the same thing over and over!
Got a biggish online Mr T shop being delivered on Thursday evening (mostly cat food and litter and a few other heavy things) so then I probably won't need to buy anything else for the rest of the month apart from fresh stuff.Well, that's the plan anyway!! We'll see how it goes!!!

Oooh, I love hm cheese sauce, but sometimes when I'm at work & we're having mac n cheese/cauli/broc cheese I use A5das own (in a tub...4 spoons & you've got 1/2 a pint with water from the kettle...doesn't taste home made but does taste exactly like the individual 1/2 pint cheese sauce packets I used to buy to add milk to). 78p for the tub & it makes cheese sauce for our family meals 10+ times with generous servings.0

Have you ever tried the one pot method? I think it's a Delia originally - you add the milk, butter and milk all at the same time and stir constantly until not boiled. (then add cheese if you want it)
The secret is to use cold milk and butter and heat slowly.
Found it - http://www.deliaonline.com/recipes/all-in-one-white-sauce.htmlThat sounds like a classic case of premature extrapolation.
