Didn't get on here last night but spent £37.11 yesterday split between Ald!; Mr A and Mr T. Bit more than I'd hope for the main shop but did include some store cupboard items including the 3Kg pasta from Mr Ts so won't need to buy any pasta for some considerable time!
Today I'm not going anywhere the shops (and hopefully not over the weekend either as the weather looks absolutely awful!) so definitely NSD today and hopefully another couple over the weekend.
I've got DGD over the weekend so may well let her do some baking tomorrow (she's 16 so doesn't need me to help her anymore:D).
Will update signature in a mo.

Absolutely foul weather here so did not go to market for fruit I hate going to Asda for it unless its reduced, but was pleased to find pineapple 69p, satsumas bag of 8 for 75p and bag of small pears 7 for 59p. at proper price and a bag of 10 bananas reduced 30p and grapes
75p, total 3.08 plenty of fruit for breakfasts and snacks for the week.
Huge pot of chicken and veg soup on the go and plenty in the freezer so am all set for a stay in weekend now.Slimming World at target0 -
I've had a couple of deliveries from Asda and Sains already so am fairly well stocked up. Bought a loaf, black pudding and bubble bath today so total up to £110.07.
I'm trying to meal plan but have only got as far as doing a freezer inventory and planning about 5 days...it's a start. I'll do the rest tonight.
At the moment I'm cooking some Cranks carrot potage (posh name for carrots, potato and onion!) one of my go to soups. DD2 is planning to go to the gym tonight and I'll go with her to swim and we don't want to eat much. On the other hand the weather's a bit grim here as well so I think we may cancel as we have a half hour walk to get here!August Shopping Challenge. 26/8. Budget £250 Spent £256.81.. £6.81 over. So £0.00 a day left.0 -
I spent £35.97 at Ald! today on the weekly shop. My normal weekly shop at Tesc0 would have been between £60 and £70. I'm pretty pleased£1000 Emergency Fund #175 - £598/£1000

I am sure Im preaching to the choir here but I went for a nose in Aldi today. I already only buy basics at Sainsburys which goes for pence. But I can see how you can save a lot more in Aldi. Some examples I found. Cheapest packet of fresh mince in Sains £2. Cheapest in Aldi £1.75. Cheapest cheese in Sainsburys £2. Cheapest in Aldi £1.75 (although Tesco do one at £1.50)
And so on. I reckon if I switched 100% of my monthly shopping to Aldi I could push my shopping down to £200 a month instead of £215. So that is going to be next months challenge for me. Wont start now as Aldi is a 30 minute walk away or bus ride whearas I have a Sains & a small Tesco in a short walking distance.
Just thought I'd pass that on to anyone else wondering whether they could go any lower.

Has anyone else noticed any recipes missing from A Girl Called Jack? I went searching for the chicken liver pate which I KNOW was on there, but couldn't find it - eventually found something on pinterest linking to it (AH HA, I'm not going mad!) but it when I clicked though it just came up with a 404 error.
SO I used the fantastic WayBackMachine (http://archive.org/web/web.php), put in the link from pinterest and "went back in time"! It found me the recipe (http://web.archive.org/web/20131025011741/http://agirlcalledjack.com/2013/10/23/chicken-liver-pate-88p/) although the page isn't formatted correctly.
Just thought I'd let you know, give you a heads up if you can't find a recipe which you KNOW was there previously, and tell you of the existence of the WayBackMachine (works on all websites)November GC: £50.55/£130. October GC: £72.60/£150

Spent £1.50 today on £4 worth of food! Used some vouchers I had including £1 off covent garden soup (=free), £1.50 off ristorante pizza (=free), then also bought milk and chicken livers, plus I'll claim back 25p from Shopitize and 20p from CheckOutSmart so £1.05 in total, but I'll put £1.50 down and count the cashback as an added bonus.November GC: £50.55/£130. Ah - ha. That's why it's different. I am buying 2 litre packs for 78 pence and you're buying 2.27 litres. I also today paid the same in L*dl.
However - yours at 95p for 2.27 litres (or 4 pints)
mine at 78p for 2 litres in A*di and L*dl
Both work out cheaper than paying £1 for 4 pints
Yes, that's what I said on the previous page. Anyway what a big fuss to make over 5p (especially when you can get it even cheaper than that in Iceland!)!November GC: £50.55/£130. October GC: £72.60/£150
