Do you use pedestal mats?

I think they are horrible and rather unhygienic at that too, plus they look messy.Raven. :grinheart:grinheart:grinheart0

pedestal mat to me means a mat that goes around a pedestal sink, not a toilet mat which is another of the "set". they hark back to a time when bathrooms were cold, - the idea is NOT to catch errant toilet drips (how gross - and much better dealt with using a cloth and bleach/disinfectant at the time). Mats were put by the bath, sink and toilet, where people stood on lino or tile to keep them from freezing whilst they washed (why else would female only households have them?). ditto the toilet seat cover - it's for a bathroom that is too small to have have a chair in and where there is generally not central heating - so you can sit to get dressed without freezing your arris off.
I've never liked any of them, but was blooming glad of them in my gran's house in the 70's which had wall to wall lino upstairs, no central heating, just a fire in the "room" (living room) and where you could freeze pennies to the inside of the windows in winter.:AA/give up smoking (done)0 -
Soon will be asking the question, who still has one of them loo roll doll things, the ones with the big dresses! I bet some of you still do!Raven. :grinheart:grinheart:grinheart0

I have never quite got over the shock of going to a male-only house and seeing the discoloured lino round the loo where drips happened. It was gross. My downstairs loo has a pedestal mat which gets washed regularly since I don't want to be washing floors every time a male visitor uses it. The upstairs bathroom doesn't, but I do have a large bath mat and if i have overnight guests, I tend to put it down as it stretches to the loo and will catch drips. As soon as they are gone, it goes into the washing machine!0

I am surprised at the attitudes shown here towards bathroom mats, especially pedestal mats!!
I have always had them on my tiled floor and never really thought about it. One reason is to have something warm for my feet in the night. Also one beside the bath/shower to step onto.Lost my soulmate so life is empty.
I can bear pain myself, he said softly, but I couldna bear yours. That would take more strength than I have -

I don't, but sometimes I ought to.If you fold it in half, will an Audi A4 fit in a Citroen C5?

Me too. When I got a new bathroom with off-the-floor fittings, I retained my pedestal mat even though there was no longer a pedestal for it to hug! I like the soft look: it offsets all the hard porcelain, chrome and tiles.
I can vaguely remember a man who used to sell 'bathroom sets' in the Petticoat Lane market many years ago. He wore the mat around his shoulders, the pedestal rug as an apron and the seat cover as a shower hat!Who having known the diamond will concern himself with glass?

No, I think sink and toilet mats are disgusting, especially if you have men in the house! It's like carpet in a bathroom - urgh! We have a small mat to step out of the shower onto which gets washed every week but that's it.“I want to be a glow worm, A glow worm's never glum'Coz how can you be grumpy, when the sun shines out your bum?" ~ Dr A.
