No pedestal mats here either, with 2 young sons it's not a good idea. I'd have to wash them everyday. Do have a lovely large bath mat which stays down most of the time.

Umm, I'm obviously from a different era as I have pedestal mats. Now you mention it I have no idea why, no men in the house (which I think was the original idea) and laminate flooring. Might try not putting a clean one down when I wash the current one, I doubt it will make the bathroom look bigger, it's a good size already. I also have a big bath mat which hangs over the side of the bath to dry when I get out of the shower, that's essential to prevent slipping. Loo covers - gross!!!!!!

I use to but not for a long time now. Got a bath mat upstairs where the bathroom floor is bamboo, but the downstairs loo is just tiles.

  • Pedestal mats? Oh, that thing that women think is for keeping their feet warm ;)

Yes we do on OHs insistence along with a bathmat, as long as it gets washed regularly I can't say I'm bothered either way.

My toilet is separate to the bathroom and I have a pedestal mat - usually for when dad visits because he is elderly and his aim is not what it used to be.

I didn't know they still sold them!!

We have a cork bath mat, that leans up against the bath when not in use. It's nice to step out on to and absorbent but dries much faster than a conventional mat.

This thread is enlightening :rotfl: I didn't realise how loathed pedestal mats are.

I have a plain white one which I want to change for something more colourful. The bathroom looks a bit bare without a mat, but that might just be our bathroom! All the tiles are white in there and the toilet is also white and the floor is a kind of bland lino/vinyl, so it needs a bit of something to brighten it up a bit.

I don't use bath mats, I just put a towel down, and I don't use a toilet seat cover.

I have a bath mat and a pedestal mat, because it is easier to wash these than to clean the carpet tiles. (Usually boot-marks, from DH coming in and visiting the Throne Room before taking his boots off). I couldn't have just a bare laminate or vinyl floor, because I don't wear footwear of any sort at home, and it'd be too cold on my feet. (With apologies to Penguin of Death :D ).

The idea of pedestal mats - and the need for then - is gross.

Fellas, sit down when you use the loo!
