  • Time for a mahoosive update I guess...

Well... the new job has been taking up a lot of my time and it is a weird environment to work in. (Very quiet and not a lot of talking really). I am really loving it though and I have has some really positive feedback about my work. I am really hoping that they will extend my contract or offer me a more permenant position. Fingers crossed.

Things aren't going as well as I would like in my life generally. I feel very frustrated over a lot of things and very unsettled overall. I think a lot is to do with the fact that I am not achieving anything and the realisation that regardless of all the hard work I put into my old job, I really didn't gain anything.

I have had to eat into my savings to get my car through it's MOT and had some significant dental expenses, not to mention my phone screen smashing. There has been far too many things costing so much money and instead of adding to my savings, I have halved them. Especially not good considering I could be unemployed once more at the end of July.

On the positive side though, my DM has helped me out by giving me extra money and I am in a job where I am appreciated every day and respected. I am also working hard to try and redo my budget and put money aside for savings. I am still working on my diet but I am not managing to stick to it fully. I keep telling myself not to give up and to just keep trying.

I am going to try and find some time to catch up on diaries, I have missed you all so much!

    That wasn't mahoosive!

Full of positives!!! So glad you are appreciated at work; it makes all the difference, even if the pay is lower, if you are just appreciated for who you are and what you do!! Got everything crossed that a more permanent position presents itself for you soon!! :D

As for not feeling great about life in general... I think we have all been bitten by that bug recently. The important thing is that you are trying to do something about it and that is fab :)

Keep going, keep believing in yourself :D we have missed you too!! xxx

  • Glad you are enjoying the new job :T. Peace and quiet sounds wonderful actually - closest I get to that is the journey to and from work on my own once a week!!

Hope everything else picks up for you soon too Xx

Pleased the job is going well! Hopefully you'll get used to it - I can't imagine working in a noisy office after working in a very small quiet office for 5 years!

Shame about your expenses, but to look on the positives - you had savings so didn't have to incur further debt!

  • Hello Lovelies,

I am currently sat at work procrastinating. I just don't feel good today. Probably a lot to do with the cold air blowing down on my back and shoulders. Gotta love air con :-/ What gorgeous weather we are having!?

So this last week or so, I have spoken to my OH about our uneven partnership and how we haven't been getting alone. I basically gave him a free out if he wanted it. Thankfully, he didn't and we are working on a better way of doing things. I think it has put my mind at rest a lot. I did tell him he needs to talk to me more about things that are bothering him.

One of my housemates has moved out this week, I was surprised to see the landlord is charging just £5 less for a room that is much smaller than mine. I wouldn't mind but the flat is a mess and everything is either broken or shabby (landlord likes to do things on the cheap).

Still hoping to get a place of our own but until I know more about my job I am not planning anything. Just trying to save so that I can clear the credit card debt without eating up all of my emergency fund. We'll see!

Going to check out your diaries. Have a great day!

That will teach me to save posts before I send with the worlds worst internet.

Just to say I am glad OH decided to man up and make things more even but keep on top of him if you aren't happy hun. Good for you for telling him he had choices :) tough love!

Very wise to stay where you are. You know you can cover the bills on your own if anything happens. You can get out quickly rather than having a minimum 6 months to spend there if need be. Once you've got a permanent job sorted that you are happy and settled in, then that is the perfect time to start looking :)

Big hugs. You're doing great! xxx

well done for having "the chat" I'm glad that he didnt take the get out free card.... hopefully this will be the shake up he needs...

sounds like you have made the best choice regarding the flat and paying of your debts, like you say you can always move when you know you are more stable with your job and relationship, something to focus on and work towards, everyone likes a goal...

    happy Tuesday :-)

  • Thanks lovelies,

I am trying to get back into saving and budgeting. It's not easy now I am paid weekly. Both my car and house insurance went up this year but I did do my research and the renewal was still the best so will continue for now. My loan is now under the £4000 mark which I am so happy about. It is nice to see it going down. I put all my large expenses on my credit card. However, I only did that so that I could work up some extra money so that the damage to my savings wouldn't be so harsh. I am paying it off so that no interest will be incurred. I will have to start looking for jobs at the end of this month and next month, just in case they do not renew my contract. I really want to be settled.

I will have to work out a budget but I am trying to use my car less and I take the bus/walk to work. I have also got a sealed pot which I have no idea what the amount is. I am going to use it for my holiday in September :)

That's about it for my update today. I have a lot of work to get through so going to leave it there.

    Have a great day everyone.

  • It's sunny!!! It's Friday!!! Yay!!!

I am going to meet my old work colleague for dinner and drinks and my diet has gone right out the window today! Need to go shopping tomorrow and get myself organised with meal plans and lunches. Need lots of fresh salad, ham and pasta for my lunches and thinking about looking through a few recipes for some ideas.

Overall, looking forward to my weekend and some time off. I need to do some housework. I also need to assess whether I can wait until our washing machine is replaced or need to go to the launderette. Hopefully I can wait as it is £3.40 a wash!

OH and I are getting along ok and I am making more of an effort to see my friends and get out in this lovely weather.

    Have a great weekend everyone!

    October xx
