  • Hello Everyone

I am sorry I haven't been around. I have been feeling a little bit down as the job interview was a total let down. I knew from the moment I walked in the door I wasn't going to get the job. The worst part is, it was simply because I just wouldn't fit in. They were catwalk models and I doubt the uniform dress would have even come in my size. :( I conducted a great interview, answering all their questions competently and accurately but it didn't make a scrap of difference.

I have signed up with loads of agencies and none of them have given me any help or arranged interviews. I feel like I am wasting my time with them. I have applied for a load of other jobs but got no responses. I apply for about 3 per day give or take but it is getting harder as a lot of the jobs aren't new. I haven't given up though.

Today I should have been paid my redundancy money but they haven't paid me. They have paid me for my holiday and last week and my overtime and that is it. Grrr. I have emailed them already in the hopes it will be sorted out by Monday.

On the plus side the money I have been paid should cover the bills and with some left over which means I won't have to worry about dipping into my savings yet. I have been a busy bee lately and been selling items on E of Bay. So far made just over £12.00. I have had so many NSDs I haven't been counting as I have been staying at home a lot.

I cancelled my subscription for a game and I am now playing free to play games online with some friends. I am trying to keep occupied at home without spending any money. I have been making a few things with my sewing machine and I am wondering whether I could make anything to sell on E of Bay. Going to look on utube for ideas for easter bunnies.

So that is basically what I have been doing. I haven't forgotten about my diary or anything but just been feeling a little low and like I have nothing positive to report.

Going to try and catch up with some diaries between job applications. Hope you are all well and dandy.

    October xx

PS. If anyone is after a cheap holiday there is a great offer of Wowwcher for a static caravan holiday for £59.

Hi October. I too have been neglectful of my diary of late, I must do an update, just been so busy preparing to move, and the money saving is all out of the window from the expenses of moving

Sorry to hear that the interview didn't work out for you, it may have been for the best, would you want to work for a company who put 'fitting in' above the importance of being competent at the job? I know I wouldn't.

Glad to hear you're keeping busy, it's all positive stuff.

Aww hope you get what is owed to you quickly.

Try and stay positive, who wants to work with catwalk models probably miserable not eating.

I sometimes think that agencies advertise jobs that don't exist to get you in the door, Don't get me wrong have done temping work in the past worked out well.

Have a good weekend, treat yourself even to something small and have fun x

    Oh sweetheart :(

Not nice to read that you are so down. Keep your chin up and whilst spending a lot of time at home is good for your bank balance, it isn't for your mental health. So even if you leave your purse at home and just go and walk a few local streets, try and go out for a walk each day and blow away the cobwebs. Exercise releases serotonin. It is a natural high; the feel good factor. You need some of that. :)

That job just wasn't right for you. Nowhere as artificial sounding as that (sounds like a recruitment agency I signed up to down here when I first moved by the way) is nice. The people are snobs and back stabbers. That is not the kind of working environment you want and it is a reflection on them, not on you, that they turned down a good candidate due to looks.

Keep applying. I sent off my CV by email to 24 agencies when I moved. I had ONE automated response. I picked up the phone to call people and the very first place I called had the job spec for the job I am doing right now right in front of her as she spoke to me. The rest is history. I know it can be hard to call and try and sell yourself, but that was what it took for me.

You are doing so well. Honestly. Just try and keep your spirits up.

As for work not paying you the redundancy money... Go kick some butt girl. xxx

  • Thanks Everyone

I have been very proactive this morning. I applied for 5 or 6 jobs online, then I emailed my old HR to complain about the lack of money and included the HR Manager too. Well by 8:45, I had a response saying they would have it in my account by the end of the day. It's not in there yet but I am going to keep checking and they will get another strongly worded email Monday morning. Once that was sorted out, I called another recruitment agency that my friend works for and arranged an interview with them. Had an hour to get showered and dressed to impress. Went into town and had my interview and signed up to temp work with them as well. Then went to another recruitment agency and filled out their forms.

Just come home and had some lunch and I am going to continue my job hunt for a bit before chilling out for the rest of the day. This weekend I want to get my E of Bay stuff up. Already have one thing on for sale which ends next Wednesday so fingers crossed. I also thought about having a look around for bargains that I could also sell on E of Bay. We will see.

Still catching up on all your diaries! Will try to be more proactive with my diary as it does spur me on to do better.

Some things that I haven't told you. My DA decided that I needed a laptop so she bought me one!! I have a lovely Toshibaa laptop. It has made things so much easier. It isn't very high spec but I am so grateful for it as already I have found it much better to work on than OH's computer.

Oh how lovely of DA. :D:D

And fabulous that you can work on your own without feeling in the way or uncomfortable with OH around.

Fantastic news on what you've accomplished today. And exercise to boot :)

Much love. You always know where I am! Same as I do you xx
