I once worked 2 days in a nursing home but decided it wasn't for me. Now work as a support role, as it is a different kettle of fish.

I also years ago did a week or 2 at brantano, but all they wanted me to do was to give leaflets to people outside, which was hard work and really really difficult.

I've done quite a bit of agency work, often just odd days over the years for sickness etc

About a week working for a company where I hadn't been told I would be answering the phones. They had lots of overseas clients with names that were difficult to catch when they said them. There's only so many times you can ask somebody to repeat their name before it seems like you are being rude. The partners who could probably have taken a very educated guess about who it was I thought I was trying to put through wouldn't take the call if I couldn't get the name exactly right. Horrible people.

I managed to resurrect an interview for another job which I'd turned down because of being offered this one first, so left and stayed in the next job for five years.

The first people never paid me.

Got a job doing data entry through a temping agency. I turned up and was told I wasn't required. I got paid a full day for the 30 seconds or so I was there.
  • Employed to play a non-standard orchestral instrument in a fairly well known symphony. The part is normally doubled by one of the existing players, and is a solo which totals 12 notes. Got paid a full fee for playing this 5 second solo.
Ex board guide. Signature now changed (if you know, you know).

My first proper job I managed to last three months. I was 16 and it was in a well known bakery chain. I would have lasted longer if it wasn't for the older staff member constantly accusing me of stealing her things! I had no idea why she was saying these things and I felt so uncomfortable just being around her :(

How about being paid when I didn't even start? I got a job with G4S as security for the Olympics. After they told me the training would take four weeks in February but I wouldn't get paid until the July I said thanks but no thanks (I wouldn't have been able to afford the travel!). Come July I get a pay check in the post for the training I didn't attend! lol

a week for me, medical secretary, audio letters from 8am till 6pm, then as soon as you get through one batch another three would come through the door, youd have piles behind you with tape, then the consultant wanted me to do his by shorthand (noooooo thank you very much). definitely not for me.

An interview the agency sent me to, hmm it was for a different job title, different job, job itself was full time split between two offices with different people for two parts of the week covering for someone off sick, that no one really knew what she did and no one to ask, on top of that I did the test standing up on a laptop because they had no room prepared, with a sheet of paper that was photocopied badly and I couldn't read, ten minutes to do it, and someone came in in that time to see if the room was free so had to have a conversation with them to sort it out, so no I didn't finish test and no I didn't take the job

3HRS It's the agency one i've just walk from and the first I never completed the contract , feel sorry for their HR department and the waste of 14 training hours was pre- warned that the mostly European immigration staff didn't have a fondness for British workers and laughed it off as ignorance, but I was introduce as another replacement dupek so knew things would go down hill fast. I've worked in loads of mixed workforce places over the years and enjoyed the banter and camaraderie but this place is truly toxic never known anything like it.

I was between well paid jobs (for my age) and thought I would give night work a try via an agency.

First off the guy at the agency seemed a bit dodge, but I will ignore that.

I turned up at this industrial estate where they sent me, 10 at night, only to see a large group of people outside smoking. I went in, was told to wait, while someone else was shown the ropes. Basically the job was checking trousers for stains and rips for eight hours through the night (the agency said it would be packing). F**k that I thought. I asked to use the toilet, went straight out the open fire exit and jumped on the train home. Got back just in time to see the end of a world cup match.

    Never heard from them again.

Another time I started a good job only to find the workload was very weak, gave it a month and informed them I wanted to go, they were find about it although not happy. Left on good terms after another week and found another job within a month. Been here now nearly five years.

Will have to do it all over again soon as I was made redundant and will be out of a job at the end of a year.
