WWYD: go back to original hairdresser, or find a new one?

So, I always book my haircuts at the end of each appointment, and I was due to have one at the end of August. Only when I rocked up, I was told that I must have made a mistake, because 'my' stylist was on holiday. I said I didn't think I'd made the mistake, and sure enough, there was my name in the diary, under my stylist's name, and a big HOLIDAY written at the top of the page. No-one else written in.
I have given them my phone no. in the past, but they don't ask for it every time. They had definitely not rung me.
Normally I wouldn't have minded so much, BUT on that particular day I really needed a haircut, I had something to go to in the afternoon and wanted to look my best. I wouldn't have minded if they'd put me in with the remaining stylist and not told me, but just not being able to have a haircut on that day was really upsetting.
The stylist who was there wasn't at all helpful, said she was fully booked, didn't offer to fit me in at any other time, and didn't seem to care, even though I said I had a party to go to.
So I stomped out, asking her to tell my stylist that I probably wouldn't be back.
I went down the road to the barber and got my hair cut there. It wasn't a great cut, but it did the job.
There's another hairdresser next to the barber, but I don't like them: they think they know better than me how I'd like my hair done.
Obviously there are other hairdressers not too far away, but these are the only two I can easily walk to, so it's very convenient.
So, do I give 'my' stylist another chance and re-book?
Or go back to the barber and try to train him to do it better?
Or go elsewhere?

Seems like it was a genuine error, and they were probably just a bit frazzled and busy. I'm sure it wasn't personal.
Surely you should be able to give them another chance? Although I think if I'd stomped out in anger and in a huff; I would be a bit embarrassed to go back.0 -
I wouldn't go back because I'd be ashamed of flouncing out. They made a mistake, it happens, no need to be a big drama queen about it.0

I'd go elsewhere. Either you were written in the book and no-one noticed holiday, or when someone wrote holiday they didn't notice you in the book, and couldn't/didn't contact you. You were unhappy with the attitude of the other hair stylist. They've lost your trust. Don't go back to the barber that you weren't keen on just because he's walking distance away, find someone else you are happy with.0

Exactly what I was going to say.
Mistakes happen, and whilst they shouldn't, they do, it wasn't a case of life or death, merely an inconvenience.
If you hadn't have flounced out, then I would have chosen the option to give them another chance. But as you have, I'd choose somewhere else from now on. Seems a shame though if you've been going there for a long time and have been otherwise happy with them.
I wouldn't go back to the barber either if you weren't happy. But also because if I was the barber, then I wouldn't be happy at someone trying to "train me to do it better".0 -
I'd find another hairdresser even if it meant not being able to walk there.Try to be a rainbow in someone's cloud.0

I think it was a massive overreaction.. I'd be way too embarrassed to go back!0

Was it your hairdresser who took the booking, or another person who wrote it in wrong? If it was your hairdresser, then I'd not go back. If it was one of their colleagues, I would give the hairdresser another go but ask to speak to her on the phone when you rebook, and apologise when you go in.0

As the other nearby options are not good, I'd give your old hairdresser another chance.

Words, words, they're all we have to go by!.
(Pity they are mangled by this autocorrect!)0 -
I imagine it would be pretty awkward to phone up for another appointment now, especially after telling the stylist you probably wouldn't be back.
I would find another hairdresser further away, who knows they might even do a better job than your original stylist.0 -
Find somewhere else, even if it's not in walking distance. It was obviously a mistake and you overreacted.
If the other stylist was fully booked then there was no way she could fit you in regardless, it's pretty normal unless you went in early morning and tried to get an appointment later in the day, they can't just shoehorn people in if they have no time available.0
