  • PD, a question for you please.

My family do a secret santa for Christmas for the adults. I have drawn my SIL, and her hobbies are baking and gardening. If you had to choose the things that you as a baker would not be without what would they be please? And what is the item you would want the most? The budget is £50.

She only bakes for herself and my DS, and just does the basics, but has recently started experimenting with icing and making shapes with icing paste. She bought a basic set of shape cutters for the icing paste from lakeland.

    Many thanks in advance.

    Springdreams,

I've just recently been given a baking book which I loooove! :j It's the Hummingbird Bakery book 'Home Sweet Home'. I've just checked and it's on Amazon for £5 which I think is a bargain. I've a few baking books but I thought this one was a bit different with loads of really interesting cupcakes and cookies rather than the traditional victoria sandwich.

    Good morning :)

Hope your oh is on the mend soon gocat :grouphug:

Not sure if any of you remember that ds2 is beig assessed for adhd/autism and I was worried because they were struggling getting him to put pen to paper in class...

The way ds2 is, he is like a bundle of electricity happily buzzing around here, there and everywhere and he can be difficult to reign in. He needs dealing with with patience and firmness but in a calm way. He can't help the way he is and I would not change him for the world.

Sorry for the ramble but I am so upset at the thought of him being handled so badly even though I have had meetings at school and they are aware of the ongoing assesment.

    Rant over
Crikey, i think you need another chat with the head. Let him/her know your thoughts and hopefully it can be worked through. give them a call now to fix an appt... best of luck.

I could be wrong but I thought you had to go in store in your 'birthday' month and get 5 taken off rather than it being credited with 5 already. Hth

    Morning elite.
I've not been about much recently, I seem to have a big black cloud hanging over me and have had for some time and I'm struggling to shake it off (I know what the cloud is, i had pnd a while back).
DH now finally knows the extent of how bad I've been feeling though.
Yesterday was a really bad day, I had a phone call from child services as during a telling off to DD a couple of days ago about her attitude towards most things at the moment I said a few things I shouldn't have. She burst into tears in school and it all came out which is why I got a phone call :(
I did tell them in the heat of the moment things were said that shouldn't have been and I've obviously learnt from it. But I've scared myself livid now that my kids will be taken off me.

Sorry for gibbering on here, I wish I had more time to spend on here but I'm stretched so far around at the moment and I feel I'm trying to do everything myself.

On the plus side, today is a new day and me and DD have wiped the slate clean :) everything seems strangely calm at the moment  I'm waiting for something else to go wrong :(
Just sent you a msg. Maaaaassive hugs to you. You're a good mum and so keep remembering that :A

No, it's worth £5 IF you take it into a shop and spend it on your birthday month ;) No credit is loaded onto it.

    That's terrible :(

No wonder you're upset, will you be going to see the head?

I have phoned the deputy head to arrange a meeting Mildred, she is head of senco and is fully aware of ds2 and his issues. He is such a swwet child I can't imagine anyone feeling the need to shout at him. Waiting for a phone call now.
To my mind if the teacher is shouting then he/she does not know how to control a class without instilling fear. If a teacher needs to use fear to control a class then they are either very young and inexperienced, or of the old school in thinking that their word is law and they are never wrong. I would think of having another meeting with the head or somesuch. It's no good having him do well at school but being unhappy. As for not letting kids go to the loo, how are they supposed to concentrate if they need to go?

I do not remember any teachers shouting at kids when my kids were at school, there are better ways of doing things.

My daughter had her 4 years ago and even though the teacher liked her as she is one of those kids that will follow the rules to the T, dd2 does not like her because she said she shouted a lot...but not at her. Ds2 has his issues and I think he will be more difficult for her to deal with. Hoping I can get it dealt with with a meeting.
