  • Still using internet vouchers at Tesco Extra, Inverness with no problem whatever.
Assistant last time had not even heard of internet vouchers but didn't quibble. So perhaps she will be a converted Tesco employee! ;D

Tried those big-valued ones (ie, those >=50p) but none of them scans. The young lad called the supervisor who started with "Did you purchase the items?" I quicked ended the discussion before the young lad got educated about this, worrying about other vouchers in the queue which I know will scan.
So could anyone who has technical experience about barcodes suggests how to make them scan?

  • Last week I took in a handful of the vouchers which the assistant was happy to punch in the barcode numbers as they didn't scan, being a bit blurred. This week a different assistant told me that they had been instructed that they could only accept 2 vouchers for products that you hadn't bought. Is this new company policy or just this particular store being awkward?

Sorry about the post above, hit the wrong button
Further to this post went to Tescos at Gatwick again this week and they adamantly refused to take any internet vouchers even though I had bought one of the products. Think I'll shop at Asda, at least they are cheaper.

I would like to detract from the general theme here for a second if I may. One of the biggest problems that I have found is when coupons don't scan.

The problem appears to be that sites like mumplusone et al scan and save as JPG which then has all the classis jpeg artifacts which you can easily see if you zoom in (blurring).

Once saved as JPG there isn't much you can do to them. However, if you scan and save as TIFF with LZW compression, not only is the resulting image generally smaller, but the quality is generally amazing.

I wonder if we can persuade sites and people to scan and save as TIFF (or any other non-blurring format) - this should save a lot of problems for everyone. Having said all that - I am not sure how to go about doing it.

My local Tesco store is now getting stroppy about accepting internet vouchers for goods not purchased.

After having used the vouchers for the past several weeks without any problem, they are now stating that they will only accept three per visit (or five depending on which checkout person you get!).

Under the circumstances I picked out the high value vouchers to redeem.

Sainsburys a few ( 8 ) years ago accepted all coupons regardless against shopping on a one product one voucher arrangement even their own magazine ones & also competitors coupons - after sevreal complaints by JS staff and publicity in the papers the policy was changed back to having to purchase items - I go into tesco now 3/4 times a week - pick the vouchers that do scan plus a couple of high value ones that wont and goto a checkout with a student on it & they go through sweet as can be - only been stopped once in ipswich but I did have lots of coupons that day - they still took them mind free toatser one day - free iorn the next - & enough cans of coke to fill my cupboard.

I used to work for JS ( long time ago ) messgae would be dont rock the boat just enjoy it while it lasts !!!

I have a stack of the Durex £2 off vouchers that don't scan. I just tell the people on the checkout that the manager said internet vouchers can be accepted and they are to be entered as Coupon Non Specific. They have accepted this everytime and I always get my discounts! No supervisors need to be called and no boats are rocked!!

I didn't realize that Tesos accepted vouchers for any products that they stocked , even if you don't buy the product , until I dicovered this site . Have saved about £5 off my last 2 shops by using vouchers . re internet vouchers - tried using a few at Tescos today & they took them without any fuss - a few barcodes had to be typed in manually . Tried some at Asda - they took one for a product that I bought but said that they did not accept vouhers for any product that is not being purchased . look like every supermarket branch has a different "company policy" .
