I went through a lot of the children's toys and got rid of a couple of bulky bits and a few other bits as well. It's hard though as little jwil doesn't want to get rid of anything! It's mainly been items where there are more than one similar so I'll show him both and give him the choice of which one to keep.

Hope you are doing OK, Jwil - you are certainly continuing with your hard-working money-making ways :T.

With little Jwil's toys - I think they very quickly forget their toys if they don't see them for a while. If there is something you think he doesn't need any more, you could hide it for a while and see if he asks for it. If he doesn't after about a month, you could then let it go? Just an idea. Though it is rather good the way you are giving him the choice and explaining that one has to go :).

Hope you enjoy your last spell of maternity leave :).

Thanks P&F :) I might try to sneak some out, but the trouble is, he comes to the car boot with me, so sees them again there! It's ok if it's ebayable ;)

Hope all is well with you :)

    I'm so fed up :cry::cry::cry:

I had a really good weekend on ebay and one item went for way more than I expected :T So I was really looking forward to bashing down some of my bills and getting on track.

Then my sodding car broke down  :(

So now I've got a big car bill and all my ebay sales are wiped out again. I know I should be happy that I've got the money there, but I'm not. I'm fed up that I can't pay what I wanted to pay.

I'm so fed up with living like this :( It's not even going to make that much of a difference if I go back to work as I'll then have the two lots of nursery fees so this is it for the forseeable future :(

(((Hugs))) jwil. It's Sod's law isn't it. I'm so sorry your situation isn't better for you. It will be though. When you hit rock bottom, the only way is up.
How long have you got left on maternity? Do you have to go back if it isn't cost effective?
Have you heard anything more about part time, term time hours? That would save you something in childcare fees.

Onwards and upwards jwil. You're so motivated and strong. I know you can sort things out. :)

Oh jwil. That's carp. So sorry. Really dispiriting and like the universe is glowering.

Just take a deep breath, at least you do have the money. If you hadn't done all that work, you'd be in a worse position.

    Sending you hugs

  • jwil you are doing so well sorting out your house, looking after 2 children and keeping your husband on track - I believe you are superwoman!!

Sorry to butt in jwil but wondered if you would be entitled to any benefits if you return to work or even if you did not?

Obviously I don't want you to go into specifics of your situation but it was just a thought?

Could DH help with the car repair bill?

Thanks EE. DH paid 2/3rd of the car bill bless him.

We're not normally entitled to anything, but I'm getting a very small amount of tax credits while I'm off. I expect it will stop when I go back to work but I'll reapply anyway as the higher childcare bill might make a difference.

I am the bigger earner so I have to go back to work (and want to!). I wouldn't get another job that pays like this one so I want to stick it out for now.

Once little miss gets her free hours it will be much easier. And hopefully when little jwil goes to school it will be a little less though we'll still have to pay for wraparound childcare.

You're right Brizzle. I'm just getting on with it again. Thank you :)

Thanks tattycath. I go back in January but my maternity ends at the end of November (taking annual leave after).

It's not cost effective in the short term to go back but long term it is better so I need to look at the long term picture.

I work in the public sector so with things as they are at the moment I need to keep my job as there won't be anything to go back to otherwise.

I'm going to speak to them about unpaid leave for holidays and that. Thanks to Brizzle's sage advice I'm not going to do anything that changes my contract and pension. My job is seriously at risk as it is, so I want to keep it going as long as I can. If I get made redundant, I'll look at different things then.
