Nectar is Changing means Sainsbury saving THEIR costs

Options
The following two statements, relative to changes scheduled for 11th April 2015, were copied and pasted from Sainsbury’s website on 13 Oct 2014

1. What does this mean for you?
If you’re a Nectar customer, you’ll collect points at Sainsbury's at a rate of one per pound from April 2015, versus two points per pound at the moment.

2. Frequently asked questions
Is the value of the Nectar points on my card going to change?
No, the value of points is not changing, You'll still get £2.50 off for every 500 points.

Unless I have somehow misunderstood the above, Sainsbury are quietly reducing the reward value of collecting Nectar points and therefore slashing their costs and the benefit to Customers.

Holiday Haggler I've been Money Tipped!
From April next year, Sainsburys will be cutting the number of Nectar points that we can collect in half.

As a loyal Sainsbury's shopper, I am very disappointed by this.

That is really going to tempt customers in to an already over priced shop.

I stopped loving nectar when the amazon vouchers stopped. Time to find a new credit card!

"At times like Christmas, we'll also be holding bigger and better Double Up events to give you great value when we know it matters most to you. "

So 50% less points per shop but they will occasionally give you double value (ie. what the points are currently worth).

The only thing they have missed off their marketing is the "new and improved" scheme to hoodwink shoppers.

More fool you for being "loyal" to a profit-making business!

A bit silly given the amount of competition there is around, certainly wont help sainsburys lowering nectar points, more penny pinching

So you'd switch supermarkets because of a reduction in "cashback" from 1% to 0.5%? If you're that price-sensitive then you shouldn't be shopping in Sainsbury's in the first place!

I get all my points doubled up because I bought my house and contents insurance from them. It still doesn't seem to add up to very much!

I didn't appreciate the change from 1 per £ to 1 per litre on petrol.

Yet another reason to avoid the worst of the major supermarkets. Near-Waitrose prices with Tesco quality.

Not quite. Sainsburys did not sell 100% horsemeat as beef.

But you are right on one thing -Waitrose prices.
