Sky TV, Sky Talk and Sky Broadband

I am currently Sky-less at the moment and its driving me mad. I live in an area where the best internet I can get is 3mb.

I am currently paying Madasafish £29.99 and I am able now to give one month's notice and be released from the contract.

So I am free to get Sky+ with Internet and Talk, golden question here, is it worth it?

I mean I can get Sky + with the right package and all the other 2 for an extra £9 a month on top of my current broadband bill.

Madasafish are trying to keep me, although as they can't offer Sky+ it seems a no brainer.

Any advice?

Check that you are in a Sky LLU area, via their broadband checker, so you can choose the free, £5, or £10 BB service.

Cheapest Sky is £15 for 2 mixes, I think the Sky + box is £99 + £30 install.

Sky LLU area? I know my neighbours all have Sky, and one has Sky Broadband. I'm not necessarily going for the cheapest package, I need Sports and Sky 1, and I check it and it came to £39 which is pretty much what I pay a month now for my Broadband and Phone.

LLU - Local loop unbundling, i.e Sky have their kit in your exchange. All you need to do is put your phone number in here.

Bumping this up to see what people think of the Sky package?

I'm looking to move to Sky £15 package, free calls and £5 broadband. I'll only be paying £5 more a month for quite a bit more (no crap TV signal for one!). I'm with Virgin on £14.99 a month and have had no problems with them.

I don't want to change and end up with lots of problems and a year's contract.

Am also watching this thread with intent. Can someone tell me if you have sky and are watching say BBC1 via Sky, can you video a different channel ie ITV1. What about if you have a Sky+ box?

Go through Quidco as I think they are giving £80 back at the moment.

With a standard Sky box and a VCR you can watch a Sky channel and record another terrestrial channel using the analogue tuner in your VCR. You can also record the current Sky channel and watch another terrestrial channel on your TV.
Sky plus is more versatile, you can pause a live broadcast, record one channel whilst watching another, record and playback simultaneously, record two programmes at once etc

Ok, spoke to Sky, its going to cost £129.99 for the Sky+ installation, £39 per month for Sky+, Variety, Music and Sports, Broadband and Talk.

However, I don't have a dish, so its going to cost £120.00 for my dish installation.

    Does this sound right?
  • If you can find a salesperson like in a local shopping center, they can offer you free dish installation, and a sky + box for £49 inc installation.

This is with exactly the same price of everything else (i.e monthly charges etc)

Its crazy, sky can't offer you this direct. I luckily found someone somewhere though and this is standard from sales persons :)

EDIT: Also if you know someone else on sky, once youve joined you can get £30 free M&S vouchers (and £30 for them too) by ringing a special number and letting them know that they referred you. If you dont know anyone, you have my username ^-^ haha

Can't understand what the £120 is for, normal installation costs £30, and is sometimes waived depending on the package you get.

I just had Sky+ installed, paid £99 for the box and blagged free installation. I think the deal is £30 at the mo anyway? The figures you've been quoted sound really high. We got max bb though so didn't have to pay any fees for that.
