I was on the site early this morning, and like a lot of others spent a fair bit of time reporting all the spam posts/threads so that they would automatically be deleted (when enough reports had been submitted).
Yes, there was a lot of it (nothing new there) but it was far more offensive than usual, with a number of words getting through the (badly in need of tweaking) filter.

From what I've read it seems that someone from MSE Towers was 'overzealous' and tried to do a quick fix without thinking things through properly.
Yes, I realise mistakes happen, and in the overall scheme of things this is nothing serious, other than as a (hopefully) learning exercise.

I think they need leeway, patience and time to get things back to normal. I'm certain they'll be doing the best for us, as usual.

Thanks MSE. Sorry you're having such a horrible start to the new week. Hope it's not a total nightmare to sort.

If it is just filter settings, then it shouldn't be.

I used to run a VBulletin based forum before. When something goes wrong like this or you're under attack it takes a mighty long time to get things back to normal and measures in place to ensure it doesn't happen again. VB support is also only really useful during American working hours.
