I would think twice about sticking raw whipped egg white on a rash that may crack and be open to bacteria , eggs have salmonella and all sorts of nastiness in them which could infect the baby.

It's the only thing I ever used with my daughter (now 3.5) I hated sudocream and metanium was recommended by my pharmacist. My gran and mum told me about the egg whites and I didnt believe them until my gp suggested it. It works and my child has had no problems at all.

If your worried about it check the ingredient list on a box of nappyrash cream

    Hi Elle

Hope your ok today and things are starting to look less red all round ;)

It sounds like thrush to me[SIZE=-1] - if so it needs to be treated with antifungal cream.

All 4 of my boys suffered with teething nappy rash. I'd recommend trying to keep the nappy off as much as possible - no alternative to a bit of drying air on a bum, and I'd forego a few puddles for a few days if you can. It will just mean watching him like a hawk, but at 2 he'll be easier to spot. Rather than getting him to sit on the pot, just push the pottie under his undercarriage while he's standing to catch his flow! They quite like the novelty of watching it too, and it's all good experience for full potty training ahead.

I used Germoline rather than sudocreme at their most painful times, as it has a local anaesthetic in it. I've also used the Dettol antiseptic pain relief spray, which when totally dry (it makes the area go a bit numb) I'd then put a barrier cream on little 'uns bottom. If you can ease the pain for him, you'd be able to use pretty much any antiseptic/barrier cream on it.

Lastly, give your Dumpling lots to drink so that the urine is weaker, and less acidic to combat the teething effects, which is always very acidy.

One last thought, Calpol always makes my kids' poo a bit loose, even acidic too (gives them dreadful wind), which could be aggravating things. Can you recall it doing the same to your's? If so, might be best to avoid it too for now.

Good luck, and if things don't improve go to your GP and get some more support there.
One day the clocks will stop, and time won't mean a thing

Be nice to your children, they'll choose your care home

My LO got horrific napy rash at teething time and we used a bright pink cream in a tub (sorry can 't remember the name), LO has an egg allergy so never tried that one. But the last 2 times he got it - it turned into thrush so Doc told us to use caneston cream but very very sparingly. This cleared it up quickly.

My HV told me not to put a lot of sudocream on as it stings and defeats the purpose.

    Hope hes feeling better soon.

Elle83, I don't know why you asked for the advice of other experienced parents if you were only going to denigrate their advice or be obnoxious.

Hope your child is feeling better.

Have you tried asking your G.P. for valium for you?

    Actually,

I have read this forum for some time and just happened to see this thread.

My name is Andrew and I have a four and a half year old son. I have experienced all of the usual parenting problems with my partner / son, and also posted on message boards to get advice. I was struck by the poster's aggressive response to people offering her advice, and was surprised by it.

I'm certainly not a TROLL as you so articulately posited.

    Cheers

    Andrew

Hi, as a parent who has experienced similar upset do you not empathise with OP's position? She has tried everything within the remit of normal prescribing guidelines, yet still has a problem. In a day and age when we are all too ready to point the accusatory finger, (albeit in many cases at the wrong target!) do you really bame her for being defencive? :D

Fullers Earth, powder if you can get hold of it, otherwise the cream. Bloody marvellous stuff.
I ave a dodgy H, so sometimes I will sound dead common, on occasion dead stupid and rarely, pig ignorant. Sometimes I may be these things, but I will always blame it on my dodgy H.

Sorry, I'm a bit of a grumble weed today, no offence intended ... well it might be, but I'll be sorry.

I have had 3 children (now grown up) and used terry nappies. Washed botties with warm water. Dried and did a dusting of cornflour. Nappies came off when convenient so botties were exposed to air. I only had a case of nappy rash when I used disposables for a very short time
