am hugely behind with the thread BUT
meal was brilliant - Honey Bear the hummus was appreciated and enjoyed, as were the chillis - chilli con carne and chilli non carne for the veggie 2 - way spicier than I do it for myself but I'm a korma girl IYSWIM and the precooking (thank you whichever flylady suggested this - sorry I can't be certain - it may have been Lynnjk) meant I was utterly chilled. I had done the con carne so it merely needed reheating; hummus was prepped, appled (for crumble base) had been done as had the crumble so it was a simple assembly job, the non carne chilli was the one I didin the SC so it cooked while I was at work. they couldn't believe I had been at work all day
and one other comment 'she's cleaned up for us! - but I hadn't - other than just running the vacuum round :rotfl: FLYING WORKS!Don't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily DickinsonJanice 1964-2016
Thank you Honey Bear0 -
Yesterday I achieved almost nothing, except making a very nice SW moussaka for tea - and Valli, I cooked it in two 2-portion dishes rather than one larger one so that I could freeze one meal for another week
Much more satisfactory than trying to find space for a half-empty dish in the fridge!
Incidentally on Friday I did cooking with reception and we made vegetable soup. I added marigold veggie bouillon (there's a veggie child in the class) and thyme as well as slat and pepper and it was absolutely delicious. No pre sweating the veg (In oil or butter) so it must have been a syn free dish - or less than 1 syn per person!Don't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily DickinsonJanice 1964-2016
Thank you Honey Bear0 -
Evening all!
Today's flying has only consisted on WM x 1 and washing up x 1 as I have been to plant some of the poppies at the Tower of London
It was great fun and, once we'd finished our allocation, we were allowed to walk all around the moat to look at the whole installation - amazing day
Dusty - hope you're feeling a little better xx
valli - could I have the 'veggie chilli in the slow cooker' recipe please?
pigpen - hope you get things sorted; happy to send a loan if necessary x

I have been with you all in spirit, been seeing a lot of my horsepiddle consultant about my jaws, flitting up and down motorways with big sticks for DD2's BD, and again tonight with DD1 and the last of her uni stuff. Currently hogging Uni bandwidth to report in flying before I set off home in the morning and start over.
EXMiL is coming back home with me tomorrow as I have a funeral on Monday afternoon and a support course for DD3 in the evening, then horsepiddle and group Stick throwing session for my own BD on Tuesday.
To keep post short I will just leave what hasn't been entertained by anyone at the Skint Pitz this week

I have been really getting on with sorting through old paperwork folders this last two weeks......and teaching the young Skints how to use them to make spills for the logburner. I have a big laundry bag full of spills and almost an equal size bag of plastic windows from envelopes to go in the rubbish. Saw Tree surgeons van at petrol station but sadly they were only trimming privet that day so no logs for me to run off with. I saw a lot of off cut wood thick with floorboard nails in a skip next to the hospital, but I will seriously need thick gauntlets with me before I even get brave enough to ask for the wood, as if I am going to risk tetanus I should at least be prepared for it!
Been to tidy Grandad and Grandad's secret gardens this afternoon with DD1 and DS ahead of the funeral on Monday. DS had good time arranging flowers and washing rabbit footprints off both of the headstones with DD1 will I pulled up the worst of the weeds. Noted there are two spaces ready dug for funerals next week. Just a little worried that one is so very close to my Dad's that someone might accidental step back on his plot. Hoping in some ways it is our family friend/my grandmother of my choosing that is going there as they all knew my Dad and a lot of the same people will be there, so hopefully I am worrying about nothing.
Right, eyes are drooping and spelling is getting atrocious so I best turn in. See you on the new list, probably late tuesday or early wednesday.
I haven't caught up with Fred so hugs stick and spoons as required...nighty night! :wave:The cold never bothered me anyway0 -
Morning all
Feeling guilty as I'd left the mog flap locked from when I was puting their flea treatment on and they have ben shut out in the pouring rain all night. I've given them an early breakfast.
I think today will be pottering again with a bit of laundry and I said I'd help DS1 with his tax return. The birds of sadness may fly overhead but don't let them nest in your hair0 -

Get chicken in slow cooker
Water plants
Gym
Bath
Walk dogs
Hoover/mop through house
Walk dogs
Maybe I'll get to read my book.
Have a great day everyone.Spend less now, work less later.0 -
Glad the dinner went well Valli. It sounds as though you had it all well and truly under control - and doesn't that feel great!
I was so looking forward to sewing today, having done all of the Flying that needed to keep the decks clear, only to discover late last night that the laundry basket of pears in a dark cupboard are ripening a lot faster than I'd realised. Pear Preservation Day it is then.
Anyone got any fabulous pear recipes?Better is good enough.0 -
Valli great news on the dinner
Froddy glad you enjoyd placing poppies
Skinty a basket full of sticks for your family
Decent weather so WM1 on the line, WM2 in progress.
Going to cook DS3 lunch and finish the bathroom then take DS3 to a party and go food shopping. The birds of sadness may fly overhead but don't let them nest in your hair0 -
skinty ((hugs)) for monday
fly- central here this weekend!!
garden sorted out a bit more - lawn mowed, paths cleared, tomato plants disposed of, had a reshuffle of the pots ready for winter planting. Still need to: sort out veg bed, carry on digging out brambles in the lower third of the border, sort out brambles in the "orchard", plant up pots with pansies etc, put in about 100 bulbs
Oh and I've still got the allotment to sort out too!
cat area thoroughly cleaned, carrier put away in garage - they were using it as a hiding place initially but aren't going in it anymore, blanket in a hot wash as I type.
2xwm, 2xtd, 1xdw
Bathroom bleached, floors done, shower especially cleaned. Hoovered the cobwebs off the ceiling and walls - really need to wash walls down at some point.
Landing and stairs hoovered, was going to hoover the rest of the bedrooms as by some miracle all the floors are clear :rotfl: but DH has pinched the hoover to do something in the garage - which he is clearing and cleaning :T:T. Going to declutter the utility room now, then lunch and then off to a NT place for a scamper around for the smallslovely sunshine here
