Welcome to the weekly Flylady thread. If you need help organising your week or getting motivated when it comes to housework then come and join us.

Thank you to Dusty for last weeks thread.

Each day has a list of tasks which works on how much time and motivation you have. The idea is that even if you are really busy you don't need to fall off the wagon!

Every room comes back around next week so please don’t stress about catching up

These lists are only suggestions and not a must do list; you are more than welcome to post and follow your own lists.

Also adding a declutter mission each day will help to gradually clear the clutter and make flying easier.

A few of the basics before we start the week -

Hotspots are areas where if one thing gets put there, loads of other things follow!

Daily routines are anything you need to do on a daily basis like washing, swish and swipe kitchen and bathroom, ironing, making beds, vacuuming high traffic areas, making meals etc.

Night-time routines are all things which make getting ready in the morning easier, preparing clothes for the next day, making lunches, swish & swipes of the kitchen and tidying the living room before you go to bed plus personals like shower/brush teeth etc.

Fling Boogie - stick on some loud music, grab a bin bag and whiz around the house finding items that can go out with the rubbish, recycling, for charity shop, basically anything that will stop it cluttering your home.

Swish and swipe/S&S means have a quick wipe over an area such as a sink or toilet to prevent the build up of dirt. This is usually done on a daily basis

HHE/HHC/HHI Half Hour exercise/challenge/ironing ... run around for 30 minutes to the Benny Hill music frantically cleaning exercising or ironing.. other music may be used if you prefer!

Here's a reminder of the goals we've set yourselves for October. Please PM me if I've missed you off the list or you want me to update your progress. I've only skimmed through the last couple of weeks' posts because of holiday and haven't managed to retain all the relevant information (although plenty of stuff that is totally irrelevant to the challenges seems to have sunk in somehow :o )

Bossymoo - Get 8lb off this month

Crowdpleaser - Sort out a storage system for playmobil / Get DD into her new room and have it totally finished / Eat less biscuits

Honey Bear - I will make a [STRIKE]dressing gown[/STRIKE] vintage housecoat I can enjoy wearing by the end of October - one dressing gown finished

ionafan - Finish sorting all resource boxes / Plant all bulbs - order has finally arrived

JTTOU - Lose 4 more pounds / Try a new recipe a week / Do more paperwork / Get quotes for two more "our house" problems

Lame Wolf - Support Mr LW through the tests he has to have at the horse-piddle (9th and 28th October) and help get him back to being healthy / Revamp my personal Flying list to be realistically do-able - done / Finish knitted waistcoat / Make progress with total revamp of front garden borders

lynnejk - clear out the balcony boxes, refill and plant loads of dillydaffs - done / Sort Room of Doom for good !! / Sort both freezers, run down and defrost / Finish and hang thermal curtain linings for spare room / Sort out all my clothes

Mamaninie - Maintain a relatively tidy and hygienic home despite the impending arrival of 2 little moggies / Try to finish DS's hoodie

MinnieMousesMummy - Finish sorting out ds2's bedroom / Keep up with course work and pass assessments / Declutter the sheds / Make a start on DD room / Make a start on Christmas shopping

mrs-mp - get replacement fence fitted to give neighbours (and us) privacy back - booked work should start in november / get garden ready for winter - fence creosoted and all summer stuff in shed / another baby blanket - knitted / all tulip and daff bulbs - planted / do a fair amount on celtic noel cross stitch / new cushion covers for lounge - 3/5done

Mummyroysof3 - Finish bedroom and get youngest in it by end of month / Stay on plan or ahead with studying

Mummyyof5 - I pledge to totally clear out everything I will not wear again from both my wardrobes and arrange anything left tidily

Natty68 - Get up and dressed every morning for the month, before 10am - no excuses, no arguments etc

nicki - finish the living room

parsniphead - get the whole house decluttered and cleaned by half term

Pigpen - Finish MOL's cardy / and my mothers scarf

Skint breeder 5 - Be brave enough to ask for free firewood from skips or building sites at least once a week

    Hi everyone

    My list for today:
    Wipe the worksurfaces
Wipe and replace all small appliances
    Clean the sink
    Clear the kitchen table
    Wipe units and cupboard fronts
    Dust and deweb
    Sweep and mop floor

    *plus*
    - ham in SC - done when I made the early cuppa
    - to horsepiddle outpatients for appointment at 0845
    - quick visit to MrT
    - buy more compost for large outdoor pots
    - plant up at least one pot
    - finish typing up the minutes of a meeting on 2nd October
    - collect half a large bag of bulb fibre for indoor hyacinth bowls from a friend
    - Old Wives' programme planning meeting this evening

The last is tinged with great sadness as one of my dearest friends, whom I've known and loved like a sister for over 40 years and who was one of the reasons I was happy to return to this part of the world, is currently in hospital and told me yesterday what I had feared for her: she has cancer, and due to the GP's abominable refusal to take her pain (over months, not weeks) seriously and consequent lack of urgency in arranging tests, it has already spread a long way. She is carer for her son, who has serious MH issues, and a Very Important Granny to a 7-year-old who lives with them during the week. I am named executor in her will and somehow have to talk to her son before the inevitable happens, but he can't face people at the best of times (which this obviously isn't).
