Happy to see GDB do it - and wouldn't be at all upset for Maggie to start it with one of her photos.I think....0

I'm resisting the temptation to post in the new thread. I'd feel like I was walking on a new carpet with dirty feet though, I think“I could see that, if not actually disgruntled, he was far from being gruntled.” - P.G. Wodehouse0

It is a good point, I was hoping that by using uv or saline cleaning, seperating from the main house via a conservatory and the mhrv we would avoid that problem but who knows.
Salt water pools are great. I think they cost less to run too although more to install.I have found pool underground insulation claiming to have a u of 0.18 - how would I work out how much heat loss that equated to in kwh?
Google expert alert!
It will depend on the temperature difference between the pool and the ground and the u score of the other materials involved. If you just have that material with a u score of 0.18W/m^2K then for every square meter of swimming pool wall area you will lose 0.18 watts of power for each centigrade (Kelvin) of temperature difference between the pool and the ground....I think.
My vague memory of thermodynamics makes me think that the biggest heat loss from a pool is likely to be from energy used in surface evaporation. Ask an expert of course but I would think that you'll be better off investing in a really good cover that is really easy to use (easy to use covers get used, tough ones to use don't).
Family news:
I'm not sure whether to be impressed or annoyed.
Mrs Generali took the Generalissimos out for the afternoon so I could get some work done writing up a meeting I had last week. She took them out and about and ended up at Maccas. They both wanted chips and a McFlurry but Mrs Generali that, no, they could spend up to $5 each (£2).
The Generalissimos had a chat and sent The Girl up to the counter who proceeded to talk the server into selling her chips and a Mcflurry for $5, effectively getting the chips for free!
Good money saving but bad parenting I reckon.0 -
Bit harsh Gen? Could Mrs G be testing their responsibility? Seeing how much free rein to give?
It is a quite genius move on the part of G Jr though... and probably not at all what Mrs G was expecting the response to be. I'd wager the taste of that flurry will need to be savoured for quite some time before the girl gets to go back and pull a stunt like that again. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? You may have the future PM there... even stands like one in that photo. If she was one of the Mr Men, she'd be Miss Audacity. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? Hopefully more Thatcher than Gillard.
Funnily enough we were discussing equality of opportunity vs equality of outcome the other day.
You end up having some very strange conversations when you have kids. E.g. yesterday in the car:
The Girl: Daddy, can I ask 2 questions
Me: Sure
The Girl: The first one is, why is the sky blue?
Me: Well <snip> photons <snip> excited electrons <snip> more blue <snip> emitted at a right angle
The Girl: Oh, okay. The second question is, is it right for me to keep the $3.55 I just found please?

Despite going out for a meal with his father on Saturday and a few naughty moments last week, Josh still managed to lose 3.75lbs in the last week! I've got a funny feeling his body chemistry is starting to work a little better than it was, otherwise I cannot explain it and neither can the doctors! We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.0 -
Well done Josh! Could he have been more active Sue and so lost it that way? Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing?
