The NRMA (our AA/RAC) has taken 5 payments from us in error totalling almosst a month's salary. I have every confidence that we will have the money back before the end of 2015.

I had my work appraisal. Ooh this is a good job. One of the things I've been asked to do is start researching companies to see if they're worth buying or not.

Do you have the equivalent of the UKs direct debit garentee which I suspect might allow you to reclaim from the bank and it then becoming the banks problem with the breakdown company?

For company research perhaps you should sub-contract Viva?
    I think....

Everything is more expensive in Aus than England just about. Land of the Rort.

We get 2xcar insurance plus contents plus 2x breakdown insurance. It costs a bloody fortune.

So we pay 170 each for two cars fully comp insurance, £40 for contents and £120 for buildings and for breakdown either £37 for full cover (last year) or now £120 for cover via a bank account that includes Europe breakdown as well and mobiles loss theft damage and worldwide travel insurance for the whole family. What sort of prices (in GBP) do you pay?

Edit: 120 for buildings not 20!!!

Oh michaels. You would seriously be disappointed in me if you knew how badly I let the Mse side down.

I feel a little queasy reading your incredible low outgoings.

I have pet insurance for Jasper, was handy I did as his operation was in the thousands and even now, I still haven't paid in premiums what the cost of the operation was.

With his insurance, he also receives a free annual check up and jabs plus luckily, I took out life of illness cover so when the time comes, he can have further operations for his dysplasia.
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.

To be frank, MIL thought that, when she died, Doglet should be put down. So, any extra years Doglet gets are a bonus. Besides that, we inherited an elderly dog that we would not have chosen, and we do not feel any sense of obligation to spend megabucks on treating her.
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

We couldn't insure our current cat because he was already in his teens when he determinedly moved himself in with us. We're his 5th home in the neighbourhood and he's been here about 4 years now, so I expect he'll deign to stay.

We love him dearly, but he's already cost us far more in vet's fees than all our previous cats put together

The latest is that he has an overactive thyroid and will need expensive meds for the rest of his life, and the medicine he needs isn't yet available over here on the internet so there's no option to save money that way :(

As expected, possible BTL sold for more than 400k (412 plus sellers costs of at least 1%), guide was 365 which is about what I thought it was worth as it required fitting central heating, rewire, new kichen and bathroom and redecorate (min 15k) and I think with all that done it would only be worth 400-425....

I really msut do something about my insurances this year. If it's any help, my gas and elec together come to about 570 and water 210 - but that is more about usage than anything smart in changing supplier.

Once my lot get to 10, then the rule is I don't spend fortunes on prolonging their lives. I've never had pet insurance and touch wood, only had one expensive one in terms of vet fees.
