In other news, I have just given up my job.
25 years, still really enjoyed it, respected in it. So, not going back. The only person who thought it a good idea to do so was me.
It seems strange to think I will never be employed again.
Moneywise I am likely to get illhealth retirement which will leave me financially secure, but I am stopping work even without ill health retirement as this is about life not money.
My husband is delighted, I have had 4 months of psycho therapy to get me to this , so Iam Ok but not thrilled.
Plan is for next year or two just rehab, then I will persue some voluntary work I think.
Thanks for telling us, Spirit.
I'm glad you are feeling OK about it. Sometimes everybody else can be very sure that a particular decision is right, but that doesn't mean that the person in the centre of things is ready to make that decision yet, and actually the timing of the decision can be just as important as the content of it. I am sure you will deal better with the transition to retirement because you have had the time and the therapy to get to the point of being able to choose it for yourself instead of having it imposed on you by anybody else, and I hope that very soon you will be feeling much more than OK about it, and looking forward to some new chapters in your life.Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.0 -
I've got my first ever speeding ticket. 35 in a 30. It wasn't a fixed camera either, but a van on a long straight road that changes between 30 and 40 limits. I feel a bit cheated. I'm not exactly a speed demon.
I just looked at it on the way out of the door but it's £100 and 3 points.Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

I thought they didn't used to issue tickets for less than 10%+3mph over the limit - eg 36mphCould you do a speed awareness course instead of the points for insurance purposes?
I think....0 -

£100 seems a bit steep though!
Agreed, if you get the option of doing the course go for it.0 -

I have a question. Its about photos on the Internet. If say, you were to find a picture of yourself ( you think but aren't certain) on a website in what is a somewhat compromising position how would one go about dealing with that? One of the participants in the photo might just look very like you several years ago of course, in which case......good for them I guess. The other participant is only partially vis able and not recognisable from that part.0

Unfortunately it's 10% plus 2mph so 35 is on the threshold for points/fine.

I always thought 10% plus 2 was safe, 10% plus 3 was not.
Very bad luck getting one at 35.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. Complain to the website owner? If that fails to the host site?
