One of The Girl's favourite toys is 'Ballie', a red, faded Swiss Ball (giant blow-up ball used in gyms). She used to sleep with it in her bed for a while. We found it one day being blown down our street so I grabbed it for her.

I used to wear fancy clothes by having an annual trip to the Selfridges sales. As I say, no car so no keeping up with the Joneses there.



When The Boy was 3 months we spent a month in a Gite in Normandy. Typical day was Mrs G would do the morning feed then I'd take him to the shops to buy Mrs G and I bread and fruit for brekkie. Spend a while in a cafe drinking a €1 coffee and chatting to the locals.

Home for brekkie and off for a bike ride while they slept in.

Bread and cheese or pate with last night's salad for lunch and buy food for dinner followed by a trip out somewhere. Then cook dinner, play cards/backgammon/read/chat until bed.

That sounds like an excellent day. When I had a few days in Jersey with the girls in a cottage, the nicest memories involve good food and being round the kitchen table.

I tend to use my dog van as a bit of a test with people. It's ancient, it's moving from Post Office red to faded pinky red, the bumper is bolted on at a funny angle but it does the job of carting the mutts around, who would otherwise wreck a decent car. When I had the VX, it could be a totally different experience in the way people reacted to me.

Picked up the new car.

So many buttons to learn. Quite a stiff gear box... but omg, what a tight turning circle compared with a LR. I prepared to turn out and almost drove back on myself!

We'll get a new radio with blue tooth for calls eventually but it will be fun to give the cassettes a whirl. ( or a last hurrah)

I've had to put my big girl pants on today, and pack some extra pairs. Nothing particularly big in the NP scale of events, but its going to be added stress for me and I'm not coping very well with a certain source of stress as it is. Need to channel my inner grown-up. If I can find it.

That was my Dads dream car when I was little, cna still remember the day he got one, only second hand, but he was delighted with it.
