Doctors rang. They already wanted to put my appointment back a couple of hours, but 30 minutes ago informed me that they would have to cancel that appointment and reschedule for tomorrow. It's not so bad while I'm unemployed but if I was working and had re-arranged things to go today I'd be mightily P'd off.
No wonder people just rock up at A&E.
It's why 'co-payment' is such a good idea. It puts off malingerers and people with colds.
I can always get a same day appointment.0 -

Looks good to me Gen.
I'd happily contribute a bit towards things like a GP visit, I think it would be a good idea. Can't afford private atm sadly.“I could see that, if not actually disgruntled, he was far from being gruntled.” - P.G. Wodehouse0 -
I strongly suspect that our new bestest friend Juliette likes a Spam fritter or 2. Fancy a new kitchen?
In-of-the-deed! Very of the much-so! And all of the round.
As unfortunately we say in our family.
Roughly translated, it signifies wholehearted agreement. No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -

I think we also hve to be realistic bout what an NHs can deliver. Its to keep us patched up in a cost effective manner, if of the right age, contributing to the work force in the most economic way practical.
I've never argued more random elements of my weird condition should be paid for by NHs because its not really of cost benefit to society.
Weirdly though, the practise manager spoke to fir ( cos he's dealing with that for me) recently about stuff and they seem to think the first suggested surgery is likely be NHs funded.
Just as spirit finds the failings in a system that she has reason to rely on, it might step up for me properly. Irony.. With potential neurological impact on facial nerve Spirit and I might have the appropriate wry smile on occasion.

I have a question for the wise people here - especially Juliette from Illinois.
It has been suggested elsewhere that the Ebola treatment centres in W Africa are making things worse, not better. Highly infectious people are being transported to the centres, thus coming into contact with many people they can infect on the way. It would be better if they were left at home, in isolation. It is not clear how much help the treatment centres can provide, and if all they are doing is spreading the disease, what is the point?
How would you go about selling to people a plan along the lines of 'Stay at home, and don't infect others. Do the decent thing.'?
Could it come to that in this country? No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -

Re kitchens.... mine is still doing my head in as I struggle to think what to do with it.
With an open cheque book, the answer is clear: get it redesigned, get it all taken out, take the floor up, start from scratch. New flooring, new units, different colour, different type of units.
But I've no money .... but a lot of its functionality is missing or curbed. Too much to really write here.
I bet to rip out a whole kitchen and replace everything, even at a "low budget" is £3k .... plus 1-2 weeks of mayhem? I'm so annoyed.... bought this house as it's fairly new and hadn't anticipated any of this annoyance. House looks like developer started with good intentions ... and probably ended quickly, stuck as they couldn't sell them .... so something went wrong in the final flinging it together stage.... to be bought by a clueless buyer who skimped on some things and had a generally careless attitude towards "keeping things nice and doing things right"0 -

In Belgium we used to do red crosses, maybe it's different here.0 -
PN, are any of the residents where you live original? Do you know who the developers are? Your place isn't very old so it may be that your original kitchen is still in production and could be tweaked. It's just a matter of knowing make and model. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? Most moles are not cancerous, any doubts, please check next time you visit your GP.
