Viva,
When my father went into private sector he had a comprehensive health check and they found his Cancer, which was pretty advanced. Similarly, a friend training in medicine when seeing practice with a GP every man that cam in.....for flu, cut finger, rash...anything, if they weren't a regular or hadn't had one for a while the GP gave them a prostate check. He impressed upon my friend that men rarely come in and say ' I have a problem with my penis' because they feel too embarrassed/ proud / whatever so if they come in you ruddy well take the opportunity to check.0 -

Anyone else?
Us too, this morning - it was really quite mild in the sun (with a coat on). Turned grey and felt damp this afternoon but the sun was good while it lasted.lostinrates wrote: »Found, tidying up, half fir's cpe (?) revision notes. Other half are overleaf.
That's amazing - the writing's so small
Happy Birthday PN
Sorry to hear the news, Viva, and hope they can sort it out completely. x0 -
Last minute panic buying birthday gift for mater. Lovely scarf or a cuff with glass bits in it. ( looks nicer than described...perfect for outdoor summer evening things)
Think the cuff is a practical idea as can be put on even with arthritic hands (
) but its not subtle, will it draw to much attention to arthritic hands? She definitely was talking about bangles recently though. 0 -

If the cuff will look nice and is perfect for outdoor summery evening things, then the fact it is also easy to put on for arthritic hands is just a bonus IMO.0 -
There's an onboard battery that probably needs changing.PasturesNew wrote: »Does anybody know why my PC clock, after PC clocks always automatically updating for the last 15+ years, is suddenly not telling me the right time?0 -
I'm half way through buying the cuff. Fir's not coming to settle with his wallet. This is much cheaper than those boots.
Edit: hahaha. Done. Phew.0 -

Went to Aldi today... I know how to live. Got a lovely soft pair of leather gloves for £6.99, which will be a treat for de-icing and driving this winter. Thought I'd mention as they are very good value. As a bit of a treat, the Marc de Champagne truffles aren't bad either, but for whatever reason, we prefer the £1.99 ones to the more expensive ones. Normally we go to Fortnum and Mason and buy theirs, these aren't as refined, but at 1/7th of the price they'll do fine.
They are due to have Waygu beef from this week too (says the resident vegetarian), and rumour is they will be stocking Russian caviar too. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? Most moles are not cancerous, any doubts, please check next time you visit your GP.

vivatifosi wrote: »I have a Franke which was bought with sink in sale and they are a great brand. My Dad is unwell at the moment so don't want to ask him (he does plumbing) but generally says buy taps with ceramic discs rather than cheap ones with washers. That's all I've got I'm afraid. The other points are obvious: make sure you buy one for the number of holes in the sink and make sure that it fits the footprint (eg if there's a bit at the back that it doesn't hit the wall, I got caught out buying a tap for my bathroom basin doing this:o), and make sure that the neck moves if you've got a double sink (I think they mostly do this now but I am not an experienced tap buyer).
This one's nice:

I had the opposite advice - washers are 2 a penny to buy and replacing is easy. Taps which quarter turn have more expensive bits in them and are often manufacturer dependent, so drips are more expensive to fix.
Friends have those feature taps with removal hoses, they seem happy with them, but in my mind they become too much of a feature.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. I'm definitely not a scarf person.PasturesNew wrote: »I've no idea what a cuff is, to be honest. As for scarves, people are either scarf people or not.... and if not then the 1-2 they've already got (or 5+ if scarf people have been buying them scarves all their lives) are more than enough.
Maybe people would find it easier to buy me presents if I was.0
