Really happy with it, only negative is poor battery life. It's just a step down from a DSLR, you can use it as a 'point and shoot' camera, but still plenty of manual settings if you want to play with shutter speeds, apertures, etc..

It all depends what you want from it.
For us, the biggest frustration with our previous camera was poor performance in low light. We like to visit churches, museums, basilicas, castles, temples....and such, and it's always the same story, don't use flash inside in low light and it's blurry, use flash and it only lights the foreground...
So now I wanted something good in low light. However, you need to sacrifice in the zoom performance then. You can't have both good low light performance and super zoom in a compact.
Also, don't be dazzled by megapixel count. A good sensor is as important or even more important than having gazillions of megapixels.
If you need long zoom, make sure it's true optical zoom and not some artificial digital zoom which will be useless anyway.
I don't think you can go wrong with a decent brand like Nikon, Canon, Olympus, Panasonic Lumix or Fuji...

A monopod (1 legged tripod) might help.

I suppose it's not being helpful if I say I've never had/used either of those. Are your knickers moist or did the drier pack up after it'd done the drying.

True...a tripod or monopod is good if you have the time to set up, but on the tourist trail it's more often a case of click here and click there, isn't it?
Like we visited the Mezquita in Cordoba last month, utterly amazing building, but my photos are disappointing...now kicking myself for not getting a more decent camera before going.

Instead of carrying a monopod and a tripod, DH does this thing where he puts his leg up on a railing/small wall/bench/whatever is available, then steadies his elbow on his thigh. Not sure I'm describing that right, but it does give good image stability.

    I've been Money Tipped!
I'd forgotten how heavy turkeys are. And I only got a tiddler.

Not picking up new car until Monday, garage pointed out it was silly to waste a tax month for a few days.

We were going to go to a spa for a half day but as I cannot stay awake if I relax for too long yet ( think I'll be fine in just a few days) we've cancelled that. :(

I think spas are used to people falling asleep, aren't they? Only been to one, as a favour to a friend - spent all the time in the pub down the hill, I'm not a faff about with facials and stuff person.

    Me neither!
