I like beet borscht, very occasionally. I'm not that keen on borscht that's like minestrone with the life cooked out out of it. Or minestrone generally really. . But.....there are odd ones out that are delicious.

£5 from an old school ironmonger rather than the £10+ elsewhere. I expect that what I bought has been hanging up in that shop for at least a decade. Was just what I was looking for though!

We've got an award-winning hardware/ironmonger shop in my local parade of shops. If they don't have it, it's not worth having. :T

Correction, you can't bake a cake for one ... unless the one is happy to become the size of a planet :)

Bake cakes that improve with keeping.

Often almond cakes do. Or fruit cakes.

Spotted this. Knew about the Amazon Black Friday deals, but not the others...

I expect michaels will tell me that this is what's in Black Friday for Dummies, mind. I'm not exactly the expert shopper hereabout.

Is there much difference between fresh pasta and dried? We normally have dried. Tinned seems all wrong to me, as it is bound to be waterlogged and overcooked.

I occasionally buy fresh ravioli but never manage to cook it just right - I don't trust the middles to have cooked through, and it ends up soggy / split.
Roasting them isn't so bad, but I wouldn't want to try eating them on my lap rather than at a table.

I love roasted beetroot. I do usually eat it from a tray on my lap, but with a plastic apron on in case of slippage ... :o

We buy sliced bread, so can freeze it and just take out what we need.

Do you separate the slices before freezing? I'd worry that they'd stick together otherwise.

Something on my wishlist has come up on freecycle, contacted the giver to ask a couple of questions.... it's a filing cabinet, but they've not said if it's lockable/got a key. Although, thinking about it, for free, do I care? It's about 9 miles away. Awaiting their response.

As long as the drawers open and close and it isn't locked shut with a missing key, you should be onto a winner.

I don't think mine has any awards to it's name, but when I asked for help as there didn't seem to be any packs with long enough spindles (I'd been carrying around the broken set in my bag), the assistant said her boss wasn't around so she'd open up a pack to see what it was like.

It was adjustable - so she sold the pack straight away :)

Hmm, nah, prefer just to eat them :rotfl::A

Hope everything's going to plan, CK.
