Been a few passed away in car/bike/plane incidents, in dodgy parts of the world from work related issues, or from various other misadventures of the recreational variety, but that's the first from just getting older.
Bit of a shocker really. I'd have laid good odds he'd have outlived me, despite being a good few years older.

IIRC, every fifth cancer's caused by an infection. The public don't seem clued up, because of, as you mentioned, the DM's oncological ontology project dividing the universe into things that cause or cure cancer.
I don't think I'd ever heard that it could be caused by an infection. I tend to eat wholewheat pasta as it is less bloaty, but that leads to a whole different discussion as to what goes.
I have an ancient pack of macaroni somewhere at the back of a cupboard. I tend only to buy spirals as they are quite good for picking up sauces and feel less cardboardy than penne to me when eaten.
M&D have given me some posh pasta from Belgium. I'm saving it for a special occasion (whenever that might be)0 -

my sister is staying with me whilst dd and oh are both away. she talks non stop too. yesterday the physio was here and she was said she could see we were sisters but found it strange that sister has an Irish accent and I do not.
DD arrived in Brisbane yesterday to fly to cairns amidst massive security then a slim dark skinned man walked through arrivals and was whisked away. it was nice of POTUS to be there to welcome her, I mean we think she is pretty special but that was not necessary.
today she was lying by the pool at the hostel. hostels have come on a bit since I last stayed in one I think.0 -
I'm running low on milk and some other stuff for RP. After the dogs are done and the chooks in fir and I will pop out I think and shall see where the macaroni lurks while there.0

I thought you'd be looking for pasta in specialist Italian food shops (of which I have no knowledge) - and choosing pasta based on the region where the wheat was grown, or the century in which the stones of the grinding mills were hand-hewn by Italian peasants on remote mountainsides.Not picking up random, cheap bags, ad hoc, from supermarkets.

I keep getting phone calls from unknown numbers
I never used to but the last few weeks it's been getting more and more frequent. I think it's because I've signed up to so many jobs websites, and/or people have got my number from my CV.
I've tried googling the numbers but to no avail. I don't usually answer the phone to unknown numbers on the basis that if it's important they'll leave a message, but if it's a potential job I don't want to leave it!

Or size / age, of carrot lending itself better to a particular shape.
I'm a rounder of carrots, more because its easer......on the slant though, for some implied effort.
Perhaps they also cook slightly differently. Or they get cooked slightly differently depending on what shape they've been cut into.0
