    Liking the positive posts!

I am feeling very grateful tonight. I've pushed my luck (yet again) and apparently not reached the end of it. Anyone would think I'd been trying to get told to f off - well, it's not worked. So time for plan B :)

I'll be back to grumpy and negative tomorrow, I'm sure!

I want to decoupage a ( subtle ) bat to the cheese room wall or ceiling. People keep telling me I'll regret it.

Depends how big .... you can't regret something small. A 10' wide vampire bat in full colour across the ceiling might be a bit different though.

My Gas and leccy bill is just over a £1,000 a year, for a three bed semi, which I reckon's not bad?

It's always difficult to compare. I don't know how much my bills here are yet. There's a certain "base level" that houses need, a fridge in a one bed house costs the same as a fridge in a 12 bed house to run... assuming it's the same fridge.

I think my heating/hot water for the last 12 months at the last place was about £120.

Nah I think you're doing really well. Have I read it right that you're doing a PhD at the same time as doing a job? Just doing a PhD on its own is tough enough. I know a few people doing PhDs and none of them has jobs on the side, except for a bit of teaching here and there.

Lir, I think you should do the bat. If it looks hideous, you could always paint over. You aren't one to follow the crowd, so opinions shouldn't matter too much (unless fir was dead set against that is).
Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? Most moles are not cancerous, any doubts, please check next time you visit your GP.

Dripping, lard, a poached rabbit and some vegetables from the man at the cattle market that "sees her all right" - oh and some eggs from her chickens.

It depends where Granny is from. Over here it could just as easily be pasta and loads of veggies from the garden and a little bacon or some bok choi and fresh fish!

I think the problem is that she said decoupage, which you can't simply paint over as it's paper and glue layers....
