I don't think it was free. I'm sorry PN, I really can't remember - was before my parents died when I was buying lots of antique and vintage parasols.
:rotfl: And other carp too.
It was a difficult time is my excuse.

Especially good if you have to bid on things in different time zones.:)There is no honour to be had in not knowing a thing that can be known - Danny Baker0 -
Just googled Pyracantha... I think I might have some of that next to my Berberis :rotfl:
Thanks for the tip about the wall, Yorkie. I think you've just made it even more likely that the wall will stay and I'll look at something(s) to grow over it!0 -
Yup. Any small source of heat so you can close the door overnight, have an air brick deal with the moisture and come in to clothes in the morning that you can dry with an iron at worst.
Re the underfloor heating - I agree with Gen's suggestion that heat is better than no heat; if it gets too cold then you've risk of condensation and damp, and it can make the rest of the house cold and damp. If it's straightforward and not too expensive to add some form of heating then I'd definitely do it.I fell again yesterday. banged my cheekbone and twisted my back but got up OK.
Sorry to hear this but well done again for getting back up again. Hope the cheekbone and back aren't too sore now.PasturesNew wrote: »That's one I've always been aware of and plan to consider investigating. My boundary would be nigh on impossible to protect in reality, so many ways one could gain entry, unless I put up 6' of flakey trellis and a good prickly pyracantha along every boundary, which isn't really sensible or reasonable, so not possible.
Pyracantha grows quite big (wide) so you wouldn't need many plants. We have one against the edge of the garage at parents' house (facing west but no sun) which Dad I think prunes back each year so it doesn't attack you, but it must be 8' high and that or more wide if you allow it to be.
I don't think it's self-clinging so you would need wires or similar onto a fence or wall (another to go on the DIY man list at some point).0 -
PN is not the only curtain twitcher finally managed to pin the wife down and get her to choose some for the living room and dining room that she liked so all that including poles is on the way.It would be perfectly fair. You fulfilled the requirements. Thus far, I have not. End of. If someone turned round to me and said they'd award it without me submitting/ viva'ing I'd take it - and feel I'd earnt it. But they're not going to!
I understand its hard writing carp i finished my degree this year and graduation is in 3 weeks! i hated the feeling of being in a hump with all this work to do. In the end i just found a way to get on with it bit by bit making sure i didn't ever get too far behind my schedule then blitzing parts when i was in the mood. I can tell you self doubt and endlessly re-writing and doubting my self wasted so much time, in the end i always end up submitting things i am never happy with but always get good grades anyway.
On a final note the NHS sent me to have a MRI today in a private clinic in and out inside 30 mins :T the only hitch was the headphones were not working and it was noisy in there :jWhen using the housing forum please use the sticky threads for valuable information.0 -
Its a nice noise though, the two sides of the machine chatting to each other.
And nice and warm. And clean.
Edit: hope your scan went ok ( its the going in that freaks me out, and less so the coming out, but the going in bit I HATE...in their I think its quite nice...cosy) and results are good.0 -
Re pyracantha We have a few mature ones that pn or nikkster could try chopping back and transplanting. ( we hate them AND they are under where a future extension will be)
Any one who wants to try is welcome to them.
They'll be sods to dig out mind, and we'll have to take of seventy five percent of top growth to fit in cars I'm guessing.
They mainly have orange berries. The one good thing is that these make nice alternatives to flowers and last WEEKS in a Vase. ( for the lazy flower arranger! )0 -

Re cars - mine'd be OK as I've got roof rack tracks it could be tied to.
I think the orange looks nice and cheery.
I wonder if there's such a thing as "a prickly plant that you can put into a window box one side of a fence/wall, say 1-2' below the top, that can then be trained to go up and over and down the other side" .... easier to chop something that's always at a reachable height0 -

I either have a pyracantha already or something similar. Whatever it is, I disklike it a lot.
Thanks for the offer though
Any fruit trees going spare? :rotfl:0 -

Yeah, I dislike them. We have quite similar taste at times,
No but RAS on green fingered was saying with someone else that she ( and the other person) graft their own , for very little money each tree. If we could learn to do that, buy some appropriate root stock you could have what ever you liked that I have if we can do it from prunings.
I feel like grafting fruit trees should be easy, but some how would be something to be quite smug about. If its as easy as basic espalier, then we'd have decent chance of success. Then, how on a year and you have perfect thing to decide whether you want to contort or plant and prune and a normal standard.0
