Just been annoyed on ebay. Waited for something, for sale at £25. I typed in a bid of £26.50 ready to press the button at the last minute and in the last 15 seconds the counter started behaving erratically. I hit "place bid" at 2 seconds anyway - and nothing happened. So I didn't get it. It went for that £25 with 1 bid. Bummer.

Have you thought about using snipe stuff? It's so long since I bought on auction on ebay I can't remember what I used. The price of stuff I was bidding on it didn't cost much... I don't think it was free. I'm sorry PN, I really can't remember - was before my parents died when I was buying lots of antique and vintage parasols. :o :rotfl: And other carp too. :o It was a difficult time is my excuse. :(

Maggie - have sent buying vibes for your old home :)

Thanks IvyLeaf. When OH was on his way back here and drove past there at about 6pm this evening the lights were on... So at least they took half an hour! :rotfl:

Sue and Lydia - Your houses sound like mine, which makes me feel a bit better about it :) My OH lost a credit card earlier this week and he's sure it's in the living room, but he hasn't been able to find it as he has so much carp, and has had to ring and ask for a replacement.

Oh, our house is a complete mess. I'm still searching for some papers I need for tax stuff for Accountant. I won't need to pay any tax, my income is so piteously small, but I still have to get the forms filled. And since I'm not able to do it myself have to pay £s to get someone to do it for me. :( If can't find papers tomorrow will have to write Accountant about it all, he's a nice bloke who is very very helpful, and I'm sure he'll be able to sort it out, but it would be easier if I could find the papers.

I think I put a pic of part of our living room up here of when we first moved in and it was pristine... Maybe I'll take a pic of how it is now (will try to tomorrow if have time) and also repost that one - should give heart to the other clutter bugs on here to see they are not alone! :)
My not bending over is because my head is swollen and so bending over means gravity doesn't help this situation. When I weed I often lay on my side. If my heart rate goes up too much his can also aggravate stuff apparently.

I should prob at least kneel to weed, but OH stole my knee pads. Plus I usually wear long skirts rather than trousers anyway, so should be looking for a waterproof picnic rug with built in foam for comfort... If there was such a thing... Might that be worth marketing? :rotfl:
A very early symptom was that my trainer's assistant came out ( my trainer was away ) and we were running my normal basic route which included two hills and I ran every single day I was at that place as my minimum run ( other routes for other places , but I just could not get up the second hill.....my legs felt all wooly and weak and I was out of puff and my head was thumping, thumping thumping and I was tripping.......like I'd run miles and miles, not three miles. Some days I get like that crossing the Cheese room now:rotfl: I laught to think how upset I was at not being able to get up that hill. :o

Hugs dear LiR! Wooly weak legs I know too well - though I tend to think of them as lead legs (made of lead, Pb) as they feel like they weigh like lead. So draggy feet and trippy over stuff not helped by dizzy stuff (though that improved at the mo which is a blessing).

What I have now is easier. Most of the time walking around I feel either like I'm wading in the sea. On a good day its ankle deep or knee deep, sometimes its chest deep, but with no buoyancy. Those days I also describe as 'walking through treacle' days. While I'm walking however, I'm walking, whatever I'm walking through 'in my mind' so I'm grateful for that. It does make things exhausting though. The wading ankle deep days I feel skippy and happy. :)

It's not worth it for the few items I might choose to buy on auction from there. Just peeking for 4-5 sorts of items, within a 10-20 mile radius (max) that are collection so I can buy/go/get/bring/have soonest. There's not a lot available in the first place, but I thought it was worth looking anyway.

Always a nuisance during changeable times. I find that people who live in large (4 bed) houses, who have lived in the same house for over 25 years, who have a room they call "the office" seem to give me the most advice about where/how to keep things.

Yes, I know where: in a spare room, that I can call the office, with a desk and filing cabinet... yes. That's obvious. But with 8 addresses for me in 2012 and my stuff having 4 addresses of its own.... sometimes things aren't as organised as we'd like.

Actually, a 2-drawer, lockable/with key, beech/modern/similar filing cabinet is on my "watch for on ebay" list. Again, not only cheap, but close by.

KICK to Lydia who clearly earned and deserves her phd and is a hugely valuable scientist in her role where her gender is sadly hugely relevant.

Oh yes, I'm a good enough scientist to teach up to A-level, and I know my subject pretty thoroughly up to there and perhaps a little beyond. I was bred to teach (descended from multiple teachers) and I do think I'm actually quite good at teaching.

I was not, however, a very good research scientist, which is what a PhD is for. Even my supervisor, who was one of the most encouraging and affirming people I have ever known, told me without hesitation that I was making the right decision when I told him I'd decided to apply for teaching jobs in schools rather than research jobs. (He said he thought I'd make a better teacher than researcher.) Nikkster, OTOH, is holding down a research job and gradually realising that the people she works with think she's doing it well, despite her self-doubt.

Also, after I stopped doing it full time and started earning a living, it took me another 2.5 years to finish, and I had advantages that Nikkster does not have, in the form of the aforementioned part-time-ness and domesticated husband. I could not have managed otherwise.

So it just feels to me that it wouldn't be fair for Nikk not to end up as Dr ster given that I am Dr J.
Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. (Link permitted by forum team)
Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.

It'll just be for six months, which in a way is ok because it means I'll have got good experience and can move on but I'm sick of having to think 'it's only for six months' or 'it's only a year', the time just goes.

At least you'd be looking for a better job from the position of having one already.

Mine is walked on by passing kids. It's about 18" - 2' high and a couple of bricks have come loose (it needs replacement anyway).

I'm not especially fond of the wall, but repairing it would definitely be easier than getting rid of it and starting again.

The big dark red thing is a Berberis, which does a pretty good job of growing, and being, well - barbed. My garden-loving friend was going to take me to a good garden centre and show me some suggestions of other unfriendly plants I could grow there. I guess I just need to hold her to that once I'm allowed to venture out again.

It can be expensive to replace a wall if the footings are being done as well as the visible bits. The single quote I've had so far for my wall, which is about 4-5 yds wide, was just over £1K including disposal.

That's one I've always been aware of and plan to consider investigating. My boundary would be nigh on impossible to protect in reality, so many ways one could gain entry, unless I put up 6' of flakey trellis and a good prickly pyracantha along every boundary, which isn't really sensible or reasonable, so not possible.

Mrs Furry's been. There's been no nibbling going on, so I've been furry free for two weeks at least. The end.

    Hurrah!
To tidy it is essential that everything has a place. If things don't have a place then you can never tidy them - it just looks tidy until you need to search for something, use something, or move something to get at something else.

    Very true.

Fatigue and lack of motivation are my biggest problems too, even now when my motivation is higher than it has been for years.

I'm fine when I can do things in my own time, not so fine when people are pressuring for things to be done..all my motivation goes.

I'm still sensitive over the house, I still want to hide away, still thinks it looks a mess but at the same time, am immensely proud of what I have achieved since May.

... I am not sure my head will get out of this disorganised person mindset, I will never think my house is as good as anyone elses no matter how clean and clear I get it and will always think someone is judging it whenever they come in and wanting to run for the hills as it is so horrible.

Sue, you've made so much progress that is amazing! The paperwork is making its way up the side of my stairs and I have piles of paper like Nikkster in the front room (and onions drying / tomatoes ripening) on the floor of the back room.

You're the person people come to see, not the house. *smile* (smillies don't seem to work on this tablet).

It would be perfectly fair. You fulfilled the requirements. Thus far, I have not. End of. If someone turned round to me and said they'd award it without me submitting/ viva'ing I'd take it - and feel I'd earnt it. But they're not going to!
