If I could find my wristwatch, I could change the time on it to British Winter Time.
I hate this time of year, not because autumn is horrid, but because it presages the long cold winter nights and short days. Objectively, autumn is lovely, with fabulous colours and a soft carpet of leaves to walk on. It's just what follows. No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -

I am no fan of things like this, but it's still better than pretending to be a WAG.0 -
Oh I'm definitely coming over: the tickets are booked and paid for. Arrive on 19/12 leave on 10/1 or thereabouts.
I have 6 things on my must do list and meeting the nice peeps is one of them. Actually 2 of them as I occasionally meet a nice person on the sly.
On reflection, Dancing angels is a me phrase and not one that I'll use for the business I think. It sounds too much like a strip club!
The thing with Dancing Angels is that we all get it because of the way you explained it. If you explain it to others, they will get it too, but it's how you get it across.
It could be a very clever name if you get the branding right, as it is evocative, emotional, imaging. To get that, you'd need it to be explained everywhere... on your food packaging, on your sidewinder posters, on your website, on your vehicles. If possible, you'd also get a PR campaign going as to why that's the name.
The ultimate, if you can achieve it, would be to get aussies saying something like "mate, it's a beaut, I've got angels dancing on my Tongue" and to pass in to common parlance. That way you could have a huge advantage, in that you would own the company associated with that saying.. which could be as powerful as owning Hoover... a brand that everyone associates with the object.
It isn't easy, and you may decide not to go down that route. But it's worth saying why it could work and what you would need to do to make it work. So many food companies are named after people (boring). The ones that stick in my mind are those that have a name that is memorable, whether that's Cook (simple, easy to remember) or Choccywoccydoodah (eccentric but fun), and reflect the product being made. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? Brands I can think of in about a minute,
Gu, innocent, pizza express, Linda McCartney, Ben and jerry ( not just thinking of all icecream brands, so take it as read the list would read as a list of icecream and I'll move on) um.supermarket own names, reggae reggae sauce, kraft!!!,
Ok, so I don't shop ready meals. Innocent smothies count as a meals though, right?0 -
This is a good discussion. Everyone should post their memorable food brands as that could usefully inform Gen's decision. I agree with Gu and Innocent. Some of the other ones I think of because they are old and established (Heinz, Cadburys, Coca Cola), but if they were to start over and didn't have the brand equity, would they choose that name again?
I've been thinking about brands for five minutes non stop and without cheating and looking in my kitchen cupboards and I'm struggling to recall others. With Innocent and Reggae Reggae, their back story is clear and well known. With Gu, it's a brilliant expression of what they do.. short, memorable, not sure what work they've done on their back story. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? I deliberately decided to not think about it for a long time to see what came to the fore. I tried to limit my thinking to a bout a minute ish.0 -

You make some really interesting points but I really am concerned that dancing angels sounds like a strip club.
What about just Angels or Angelic Foods? Angelic foods sounds like the food is 'pure' I guess too.
Posting food brands or indeed brands would be helpful actually. Perhaps also what people associate with particular brands.
For example, what was the first brand that popped into your head when you read viva's post? What do you associate that brand with?0 -

Interesting. I think the list tails off pretty quickly no matter how much time you spend on it. After about 4 mins I thought of McVities, but that too is one of those established names. The only new ones are those innovative ones that are already mentioned... I'm up to about 15 mins now and there are no other brands knocking on my cranium and asking to come in.Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing?
