Watching the F1 race at moment, up here in South Yorks, room is 12c..no heating needed whatsoever. I may put a bit of heating on when I can see "steam" from my breath but only to raise it to 14/15 c. Laughing at some of you "wusses " on here

The name calling comes up most years. Surprised to see it from you though. It's a case of what you're used to. 12C would cripple my arthritic hands and I haven't worked 60 hours a week and been a higher rate tax payer for years to sit around freezing my nipples off and aching now I'm not working.

We've put our on in the bathroom, lounge and wife's playroom but so far are holding off in the rest of the house.

We have an ongoing battle regarding thermostat settings, she wants them cranked up and I refuse to sit in my underpants because it's too hot - we usually compromise on about 19 degrees.

The underfloor heating gives a much more even spread of heat from the floor up so it actually feels more comfortable at a lower temperature. You can't beat going into the bathroom in bare feet and having a nice warm floor to walk on.

I've avoided the log burner so far, although it's been quite cold, damp and foggy here today and the sun hasn't put in an appearance so we might get tempted this evening.

Can change very quickly here (as you saw) with showers coming in off the channel. Few more miles inland - nothing.
It didn't make it as far as cheddar.

22c in the front room tonight, obviously not enough sun to build up the internal temperature of the house today.

Not putting the heating on though, but I have put the electric blanket on for SWMBO.

I ve just been called a "wusse " for requesting a bit of heating on at my long term girlfriends place, seeing as how its now down to 10 c now..and shes on chemo with terminal breast cancer !
Perhaps I m just a bit jealous of folk with central heating as I m now 65, and never had central heating. I m not retiring yet for a few years ,getting ready for another freezing cold winter plodding the streets of South Yorks.

I enjoy your informative posts on meter reading, and, like Andy-WSM above - am not certain if your latest posts are a joke.

I think the MSE record is 8C for tolerated lounge temperature, so you might even equal that record soon;)

As a matter of interest how do you spend the £200 Winter fuel allowance?

noun : plural noun: wusses : a weak or ineffectual person (often used as a general term of abuse). "we are not just a group of shallow wusses"

Well folks wussality is here we've all been wussified by sacsquacco :

    - a double decaf soy latte is just a wussified cup of soddin coffee.
    - a Wii is a wussified PlayStation.
    - an iPhone is a wussified mobile.
    - an iPod is a wussified mp3 player.

"Look! I've tied a very pretty pink ribbon around that awful dog of yours." "Oh god, no! You've wussfied Conan the destroyer!"

For myself I'm wussing-out, drinking my coffee and sticking with 22°C, still with three open windows and no heating on in the NE of England. :D

My £200 go s towards my boystoys, latest buy last week was a retirement treat, a pair of Carl Zeiss Victory HT binoculars at £1400 quid . I ve been a keen birdwatcher for years and that comes before wussy central heating.

Had to admit partial defeat last night to "er indoors" - the shorts have gone away (only for a few days, hopefully!!) and I've put the heating on this morning for a couple of hours cos the bathroom was a bit nippy!
