Not a thermostat but a room thermometer, I am sick and tired of buying them only to get them home and they do not register the room temp, is it too much to ask for one that is 99.9% accurate? You live..You learn.:)0

Meant to say too - my boiler is installed on the apex wall in the loft.
It seemed like a good thing to do at the time, but be warned - the first you know something is wrong is either because it doesn't come on or because water starts running through the kitchen ceiling below.
Oh well.

Why replace the boiler every 10 years? Surely their average life is longer than that?
Because the government gets a nice juicy VAT cut every time you change.
But it's all Green Tax money saving.
I'll stick with my standard old fashioned boiler, that is probably 30 years old and had its first service for at least 13 years this year.
And before the HSE safety bods come out, its located in the garage and I have both carbon monoxide and dioxide detectors installed.0 -

- unless you have a green steal installed boiler, current green steal equipment comes with a five-year warranty
- if the installers, manufacturers and brokers have their way you will need a complete replacement sometime after the fifth year
- even though its warranty will have expired, you will need to pay to fix it, and, you will also still have to pay your Green Deal provider each monthDisclaimer : Everything I write on this forum is my opinion. I put my heating on when I feel cold. Some days I can sit at 16C and feel hot with the heating off, whereas other days my feet are still ice blocks at 18C and the heating goes up to 20C0

I put ours on once on Wednesday, for a few hours, but this was more to "air the house out" and help dry some washing, as I was silly and did two full loads, then we had rain for four days. Otherwise it's been OK, we've draught proofed all the house just about, and luckily it's relatively warm.Live for what tomorrow has to bring, not what yesterday has taken away0

we've draught proofed all the house
This morning when I woke up before my heating came on my double glazed bedroom window was totally covered in condensation and the temperature was 18 deg C.over 73 but not over the hill.0 -
On the last 5 live consumer podcast Martin implied his heating will not be put on until the end of November. I don't think I can wait that long!

Not yet. I want to wait until November.
I don't like it too hot anyway and it will never be set at anything over 19C anyway. Currently my house is 17C and that's more than enough for me.0
