Whilst i dont agree with Superscaper about say the impact of a 3yo laptop breaking down, i think not honouring a fault like this after such a short time is wrong.

Yep we may disagree on some of the idealism I have against the practical reality you have (and I do actually agree to a certain extent that the practicalities aren't for everyone, I tend to get carried away with an almost Devil's advocate position :D ) but I think we're both definitely in agreement here in this case that less than twelve months is appalling not to offer repair and I'm surprised at their standard manufacturer warranty NOT being twelve months for a laptop.

Any comments Superscaper on the way forward on this one?

OK after being transferred 6 times and having to repeat the problem, my details etc. etc. I have some resolution. First 5 times I got the but you had a 3mth warranty and as we don't sell through a physical store we don't have to honour UK consumer rights. However last guy I spoke to for 30 mins in Technical Support seemed to think I had warrantly until September - obviousdly not going to argue with that. Definitely faulty keyboard - I could either have them pick it up, take it away, fix it and hopefully return it OR have a keyboard sent to me and replace it myself. Went for second option - figured it was safer!!

So my problem is resolved but had it not been I would have fought them over it.

FYI top tip - I used www.saynoto180.com and called the Bracknell head office number and got transferred. Else it would have been a costly call!

Well that's complete c*ap. The Sale of Goods Act (SOGA) law is still the same no matter how you buy it and there is even additional protection for remote buying with the additional The Consumer Protection (Distance Selling) Regulations 2000 which is in addition to the SOGA.

Taken from the governmental DTI website:
What are my rights when shopping online?
Your usual consumer rights apply online.
What should I do if the goods are faulty?
The Consumer Protection (Distance Selling) Regulations 2000 give consumers an unconditional cancellation right, in addition to their rights under the Sale of Goods Legislation.

Thanks would definitely have carried on hassling them until I got some resolution!

 Now I just hope it's as easy to replace the keyboard as I'm being led to believe!!

lol they told me its easy but i couldnt do it. i just ended up scratching the laptop with the screwdriver where they told me the keyboard would just "pop out"

they had to send an engineer in the end and i watched and it didnt just pop out at all it was all screwed down
