dell additional warranties

Ive a dell warranty left of 3 yrs, ive bought a new dell laptop, does any1 know if they let you transfer the warranty to your new laptop?
Wins so far this year: Mum to be bath set, follow me Domino Dog, Vital baby feeding set, Spiderman goody bag, free pack of Kiplings cakes, £15 love to shop voucher, HTC Desire, Olive oil cooking spray, Original Source Strawberry Shower Gel, Garnier skin care hamper, Marc Jacobs fragrance.

Doubt it, personally I wouldn't bother getting additional warranties. Cheaper (free) to rely on your existing consumer rights, which for a laptop I would expect something like at least 3/4 years anyway."She is quite the oddball. I'm not in a position to splash out on warranties, but I've always stuck with my rights and knowing the law and that's served me well enough. Companies won't improve if everyone forgets about their legal obligations and give them even more money for the priviledge of ignoring the law. If I was caused any problems then I'd be quite prepared to go to court, it's a lot cheaper than an extended warranty."She is quite the oddball. Good luck with convincing someone in a Dell call centre at the other side of the world that your three year old laptop with a dodgy hard disk is their problem. you'll need it.
Taking Dells standard Vistro laptop as an example, a full three year next business day warranty adds £79+vat to the price. A full four year adds £99+VAT to the price.
So for the four year one, thats £30 a year inc vat, or 60p a week or 8.5p per day.
If the laptop was over say, £400 new, i would get the warranty. For one of the entry level ones at around £300 if it does go pop a couple of years down the line, i'd put it on ebay for spares or repair and buy another one.0 -

So that's an extra £79+VAT for no extra protection than you already have. Considering that even if Dell were too stubborn to concede their legal responsibility, the small claims court cost is much less than that and you get it paid back anyway when you win.
In summary:
3 year warranty, get laptop repaired or replaced, cost £79+VAT
3 years under SOGA, get laptop repaired or replaced, cost FREE
I think i'll go for the cheaper option which gives the end same result of free repair/replacement. I mean you've still not actually stated any advantage to an extended warranty. You could say the same thing if they dispute terms of warranty. If you're so worried about them so easily breaking the law I don't understand why you can be more confident they'll stick the their own warranty. I'm only harping on about this because spending money needlessly on warranties and not using consumer rights isn't in the spirit of the website
