In what way was that a ridiculous post?

Thereby giving the opinion that the phones are equivalent.

mrochester gives his opinion that the other phone operating systems are not as good as IOS but that most people don't know or realise that (or in other words are ignorant of it).

But has anybody come back and said that Android (or WP - bwaaaahhhh! :-)) are as easy to use/intuitive as IOS? I don't think so; the first time I used Android I couldn't answer a phone call!

Has anybody asserted that Google or Amazon's app stores are as integrated as Apple's? I don't think they are.

Has anybody observed that the messages app on a Mac is integrated with your iPhone's SMS messaging, so that you can text from your Mac if that's more convenient to you?

How about the integration between Apple's iPhone/iPad/AppleTV products - has anybody mentioned that? Do any other companies offer such a level of cross-functionality?

There are more things which could be listed, of course...

And not knowing that is, by definition, being ignorant of it.

The fact is that Apple's offerings form a coherent product range, and that is a great strength which other companies don't have.
Once you have decided that you are going to defend a product until it's ripped from your cold dead hand, there is nothing anyone can say to make you understand their point.
No one has said that Apple products are no good or that they don't function. I personally think they are excellent. However, I'm not blind (or ignorant enough) to think they are the only excellent product on the market.

Yes but apples stuff only works within its own eco system. Have you ever tried to stream anything from an apple device to TV without needing an extra box in the form of apple tv? It's a right PITR, I can tell you. On the other hand my android phone can communicate directly with all sorts of other devices using open standards.

Also I would say Android is more intuitive than iOS but I realise that is subjective since I use Android as my main device.

The bottom line is I can generally do everything I need to do with either an Android or Apple device so the two systems are indeed equivalent as far as I'm concerned.
Well, I have a selection of computers and gadgets, and things mostly work.

My Mac and iPad can happily stream from my WD MyCloud drive.

I'm thinking about getting a UnitiQute, and the remote app is available for the iPod.

I've got a Galaxy Ace 2, but it doesn't inspire me.

Yes but apples stuff only works within its own eco system.

actually thats one of its biggest strengths, gone are the days when you have to wrestle with multiple programs and drivers etc to get a phone and PC to work together. OSX & iOS devices work together seemlessly and I agree with previous posts, many techies (me in included) are turning to this as they are tired of the pathetic alternatives in windows/android.

Also during our professional work we have seen what a joke the competition is around stability and other issues (another reason I wouldnt even look at a windows phone).

I hear the same arguments with windows vs osx, from ignorant idiots who have never used osx and just spout 'too expensive, i can spend 200 hours tuning my virus riddled pc running windows and get the same result as a mac', what they fail to understand is they have already wasted a valuable resource, their time.

iPhones just work, and work very well in their eco system. who cares I can get a HTC camera with 15MP camera when taking a picture and integrating with my bloatware PC takes up half my life.....

MS, and unfortunately Android (unless google branch off a version and properly standardise it) will never win out against an all in one eco system such as apples.

I dont know if you've used a modern Android device but they are a lot easier to use than you make out. For example, if I want to stream content from my phone to a DLNA enabled device I just press the "Throw" icon and I can select the device I want to stream to form a list. The only requirement is that all the devices are on the same network.

No intermediate boxes needed, no third party apps either - literally plug and play unlike my ipad which can only communicate with other apple devices.

I might also add that Apple falls down in other areas - for example I can connect my Android phone to my ANT+ heart rate monitor and the speed and cadence sensors on my bike but I believe this protocol isn't supported at all on iPhone.

As for stability I don't have problems on my current Android device but I would say my Ipad is extremely unstable after the iOS 8 update so I don't buy into the idea Apple products "just work" all the time.

As for OSx, it's very good and I own a Macbook but it needs extra software to talk to my Android phone where as windows will communicate directly. My Macbook also struggles to integrate with other devices like the DLNA enabled ones I mentioned above. Personally I'd prefer it is Apple could implement a bit more functionality in this area as it makes it easier to have free choice over the devices I buy.

I'd love to know what it is that iOS does that Android doesn't.
I've been able to send files over Bluetooth since I think 2003 on a Nokia 6630 - iOS still lacks this feature.
The hardware has been technically capable of loads of stuff, but they purposely hold you back from doing things. In the above case, they would hide behind stopping people from pirating music.
From a happy Android, Windows 8 and OSX user!

That is so last century. There were valid reasons for choosing Apple and Macintosh in the olden days. Now it's only for convenience and fashion but not total cost of ownership.
