Drives, solid state memory does it really matter? The cost to them according to a post I read on an apple forum is very little.

Either way you'd have to be stupid to pay hundreds of pounds more for bigger "solid state memory"

The ipad air two is due out soon and I feel sorry for those who queue up for hours to get one just to get screwed over on the price

Don't worry about it - people wouldn't buy it if they didn't want it.

Although quite a few things about iOS 8 have peed me off, Apple still make my favourite devices, although I do quite like Windows 8.1 tablets as well.

What's all this Macs are expensive malarky?

The PC I recently built cost more than my Mac mini.

My work laptop is a Dell E6540, which is a comparable price to a Mac; it's daft to compare budget models.

Well, I have a selection of computers and gadgets, and things mostly work.

My Mac and iPad can happily stream from my WD MyCloud drive.

I'm thinking about getting a UnitiQute, and the remote app is available for the iPod.

I've got a Galaxy Ace 2, but it doesn't inspire me.

Are genuine Apple users embarrassed to be associated with this growing fanboi reputation? No matter how good their products are, there is becoming a stigma associated with them. A little like BMW drivers a few years back ....
I think there are genuine fanbois of Apple and evangelists of Windows, but not everybody fits into that category.

Me, I use Mac, Windows and Linux computer systems daily, and I prefer the Mac.

I bought a Blackberry tablet, but it was rather a dead loss, and I can't remember the last time I even touched it. I also bought a netbook, which was the most useless purchase I've ever made.

I had Creative and another MP3 player, and then got an iPod (one with the mono LCD screen); I never saw a reason to leave the brand, and when the iPod Touch came out I got one to replace the PSP which I had been using to watch movies on my commute (which needed copying onto a memory stick the night before).

I got an iPhone (3S) with my then job, and it just did what I wanted, so when my contract came up for renewal I got an iPhone 5 to replace my Nokia and the iPod.

I've dabbled with Android on a phone, but it didn't really grab me, and Blackberry (I've used them) and Windows phone (I've used them) aren't in the same league; so it's iPhone for me.

I don't however "get" the iPhone 6; it's too big for my preference. When I come to replace my 5, Apple may not be an automatic choice.

I'd been looking at tablet computers, and checked out a Windows one but it was just Windows 8, and I bought an iPad - it was compatible with my existing iTunes & iPhone setup, and so fitted in well.

Me, I don't think that Apple products are manna from heaven, but I'm happy with my choices and am a heck of a lot happier having Apple as the main PC suppler than Microsoft-based systems.

P.S. I also drive a beemer! (Actually I have two...)

Hopefully your PC has a much superior spec or you have gone wrong somewhere.

Macs are expensive when you consider what most people are using them for i.e surfing the web, wordprocessing, Facebook etc.

These are tasks that a much cheaper tablet, PC or laptop can carry out with ease.

That was mentioned as an example of the Android OS, rather than the phone's feature like screen size, camera, memory, and so-on.

My Mac mini has 16 GB memory, an SSD & hard disk, and supports dual monitors.

My PC has 16 GB memory, an SSD & hard disk, and supports dual monitors.

The Mac has a 2.5 GHz i5, whereas the PC has an i7-4770S, so the PC has a bit more horsepower.

I have VMware on both and can run the same guests (Windows, Linux, UNIX) on both.

I tend to use the Mac mainly, and go onto the PC for more techie stuff.

A Mac mini for surfing, email and stuff is not big bucks, and the prices of used ones compare to quality SFF/USFF models.

As far as I can see the 'cheapest' Mac mini is £500 which personally I think is a lot of money for a surfing computer. Plus you should easily be able to get a better spec PC for that sort of money.

It depends what you think of as the "spec"; do you just mean the CPU, or do you include the physical size, the OS, maybe the power consumption, and the noise, the quality of finish, and so-on?

And when you consider the money, do you include OS updates and bundled software like Garage Band?

My Mac mini is 1/5th of the size of the rather nice SFF PC I mentioned I have; that's relevant in terms of desk space.

    Is Dell's 9020 Micro a similar model (normally £752, offer price £489 + VAT & shipping)?
