Ipad storage and costs, how do they get away with it

I've been looking to get a kitchen knife; they all have a blade and a handle, but some cost under a tenner whilst others can be in the hundreds.
I think it's shocking, since they are all made of steel and have the same basic design.
How can it be that some are ten or more times expensive than the others?0 -
My phone is only 16gb with 12gb of usable storage, and it's not nonsense that 16gb isn't enough for the average user. I know it's nonsense from the endless posts from people complaining after the new updates your getting left with less and less space.
12gb on my phone isn't enough, I keep having to delete things I can't even have my music on it I had to delete it so it's clearly not enough for your average user.
To ditch the 32gb iPhone to force people know buying the 64 version is ridiculous, they have you over a barrel either put up with 16gb that won't be enough for most or cough up for the big brother.
I wasn't suggesting people buy it to be snobs or anything, I know how well apple products are made compared to others I'm just shocked at the constant hype and massive queues for the latest gear.
It's a must have gadget for some it's just crazy what their willing to pay for it, I can afford it but I wouldn't be silly enough to pay for it if rather get Samsung or HTC which is equally as good if not better for much less.
That's just the thing for me and I presume many thousands and millions of other users; Samsung and HTC products are nowhere near equally as good and definitely not better. Both are running Android for a start, rather than iOS.0 -

When something is made of steel, it's the manufacturing process and quality that makes the difference. Which is why some swords/knives break easily and others don't and why some keep an edge longer than others.....It's never a simple as the base material....
And with Apple products what sets them apart is the quality of manufacture and software, not just the base material(s).0 -

Yes, apple stuff is generally well made but if you think it's significantly better in, engineering terms, than any other premium device I suspect you've been sucked in by Apple's marketing hype.
Some people may prefer apple products but that's doesn't necessarily qualify them as being better.0 -

Actually I'd say Apple's hardware is very nice, and some of the best in the industry, but what sets them apart from the rest is their software and operating system. There's just no other company who can touch Apple on that front at present. Some people may prefer apple products but that's doesn't necessarily qualify them as being better.
Well, that's precisely what it does for all of those people.0 -
Yes.

People often get confused when comparing low end phones from others with iPhones.....They no longer come out on top as a given, but, they do make excellent phones.
I think it's pointless entering into the X is best argument any more, so much is down to personal preference. It's a shame that some just can't see that there personal choice doesn't mean it's best....;):DDrinking Rum before 10am makes you

It may define Apple, but, I don't think that it sets them apart any more. Other manufacturers have caught up, quality wise, in there high end models.
