Hey hon
Love your DS's comment! That's a backward compliment if ever I've heard one
Not sure what to suggest work wise. Temp work can be a good way to get into a great job but if you don't get any work you don't get any pay. That's only a decision you can make and I don't envy you. I agree that mystery shopping and small contracts is time consuming and unreliable, it stinks doesn't it! But when that's the only option you've got you do it, and do it with a smile.
Have a great dayxx

Thanks Sassy, you are right, whatever happens I am going to keep smiling
(In order to do so I will allow myself the occasional hump day, duvet day, bath day, binge day, whinge day etc ............
).
I was actually in the same position this time last year. I had lost one major contract which represented half my income, and my steady, eddy permanent job, working for the local authority plodded on interminably. Around Christmas time I picked up a contract which replaced the lost income and that was the one that has recently concluded.
My steady, eddy job is actually not that secure now either. The local authority is not recruiting unless they absolutely have to, and regularly sends out offers of voluntary redundancy. I have been in this job for 6 years and every year they have paid us a lump sum to cut out a previous benefit or perk. (Just typing that has made me think that phoning up about voluntary redundancy would be a more sensible approach than just handing in my notice, if that was the course I decided to take).
There are no options for advancement in the job or extra hours available and while I don't dislike the job, and the environment is very pleasant, it is tedious, mind numbing work that does not utilise my skills.
I have stuck with this regimen for the past 6 years because it has fitted in well around DS and DH and elderly relatives and it has covered our financial requirements, but now feels like the right time to make a real change, now or never, but DARE I?????????Training Loan - £1300.00/£1,500 (13%), Halifax CC 300.00/£925.00 (31%), OS Weight loss 7.0lb/24lb (29%), Extra inc Nov £220, Dec £532.00, Jan Ex Inc target £200.00. Hi Wf8
Dare you? I may not be the right person to ask, as I gave up two great part-time jobs thinking one whole time one would be good, but I just felt very vulnerable to job loss. That was probably because it wasn't a great job except for the money.
I would definitely look around for another part time job if you can. As long as you have at least two days a week. Try signing up to your local council and hospital temp staff bank. (I'm not sure what you do). But it's a way in to see what it's like. Also small firms want part timers quite often, so have a look on indeed. Please don't give up your regular work. It is do much easier to get a job with a job. And more jobs will become do-able as DS gets older.
Don't give up. You did great to get an interview and do so well.

Thanks Supersaver, I think you are exactly the right person to ask, because you have been there, done that and got the t-shirt, and come out the other side too
I really appreciate your input.
I have not looked at Indeed, but I will now, and I am not going to do anything rash, though I was sorely tempted to ......
We can just about manage on my current salary and I am feeling happy and positive about the future and with life in general at the moment, so I don't really want to put myself into a high stress situation intentionally, which a loss of another £500.00 a month would create.
Unfortunately the job situation isn't what it used to be, when temp jobs were ten a penny, even these are hard fought over in my area.
I will focus on my training, applying for full time and part time permanent employment, and picking up the odds and sods of income that fit in with the above. I will have to learn to be patient ............
I am off to the funeral early tomorrow TTFN, and thanks again xx.Training Loan - £1300.00/£1,500 (13%), Halifax CC 300.00/£925.00 (31%), OS Weight loss 7.0lb/24lb (29%), Extra inc Nov £220, Dec £532.00, Jan Ex Inc target £200.00. Training hours 10/100 10%

One thing I would definitely do before leaving any secure job is to try and improve that job. Really step out of your comfort zone, volunteer for stuff, try stuff out. You might just find a talent for something.
Sorry to hear about the funeral. It's a rotten day here, so hope you get better weather where you are.

Thanks Sassy and Supersaver, it was a lovely if intense couple of days.
Dear uncle was a very funny man, though his humour was completely non PC ... The service and reception captured this brilliantly and we were all recounting our favourite tales about him and there was loads of laughter and drinking right into the wee hours of the morning...
It was as though the last six years evaporated and we were basking in memories of him at his absolute best.

There is just one week to go until the end of November and I want to finish the month on a focussed high. I will spend an hour today planning how I can best utilise the remaining time to accomplish November's objectives.Training Loan - £1300.00/£1,500 (13%), Halifax CC 300.00/£925.00 (31%), OS Weight loss 7.0lb/24lb (29%), Extra inc Nov £220, Dec £532.00, Jan Ex Inc target £200.00. Spider Step 38
"The successful warrior is the average woman, with laser-like focus." Bruce Lee
Goal 1 in line with Spider Woman's objectives:-
Maintain and consolidate the 8lb that I have lost this month.
My liver took a bit of a battering over the long weekend so I am going to finish the month with a three day Ayurvedic Detox. I have done this before and felt great afterwards:-
Day 1 - Drink as much warm water and honey as I can. Nothing to eat.
Day 2 - Gently boil all the green vegetables I can find, liquidise and drink throughout the day as a soup or smoothie. Drink another couple of litres of water and nothing else.
Day 3 - Eat as much HM, unseasoned lentil soup as I want, drink plenty of water and nothing else.
Day 4 - Back to slimming world plan.
Goal 2 - Retrain
Complete part 1 of my course ready for the internal exam on 4th December.
Goal 3 - Stay Debt Free and build up income
I have clocked up quite a bit of extra income this month, but expenses have been high too, and my training budget has taken another battering. I have £30.00 left of my shopping budget though which was only £250.00 (thank you L*dl's, I shopped there exclusively), so I will concentrate on staying within that and spending nothing else.
Goal 4 - Get to the bottom of the laundry basket, and see what is lurking there......
Putting on a wash and drying it, each day this week, should clear the cupboard, so that is the plan.Training Loan - £1300.00/£1,500 (13%), Halifax CC 300.00/£925.00 (31%), OS Weight loss 7.0lb/24lb (29%), Extra inc Nov £220, Dec £532.00, Jan Ex Inc target £200.00. Training hours 10/100 10%
