    Hi Happymac,

Thanks so much for saying hello. I have not got a clue how to subscribe to threads either, but I would love to know too. It would save me a lot of time hunting. Perhaps somebody can educate us both. Are you going to start a diary? I am enjoying posting here, it is really helping me to stay focussed and I am getting terrific advice ......FREE........:).

I have tipped out every drawer in the house and emptied cupboards, searching for these illusive certificates, leaving a trail of mayhem and destruction behind me, to no avail, I am about to part with £50.00 :(.

Thanks Supersaver, that was very easy to follow and I have now subscribed to a number of threads.

I was feeling overwhelmed thinking up interview questions and suitable answers yesterday. After a frustrating hour I went online to see if anybody had cracked the code already and a headline in bold red letters jumped out at me,

"SHE HADN'T INTERVIEWED IN OVER 15 YEARS BUT ACED EVERY QUESTION AND WON THE JOB OFFER USING THIS SIMPLE METHOD".

    http://www.interviewsuccessformula.com/

I signed up for an online interview course, for another £63.00 (actually $97.00), which included an extensive profiling questionnaire. (The training budget gets hit again ).

Using these results a report was produced that gave answers to the 20 interview questions that all others are apparently derivatives of. The answers were tailored to my profile and felt very natural. There are blank spaces to make the answers even more relevant to the job applied for using my personal history.

I found it extremely helpful because the assessment that came back was actually a deeper version of me, that correlated very accurately with what I know to be my true strengths and weaknesses (but I would have struggled to articulate them). It also gave me a very good picture of the type of job that would be a natural fit for me.

    Spider Step 27

Spend another couple of hours finalising my answers to the questions and ensure that I truly believe that I am the perfect fit for the job. Once that is accomplished, I will have a much easier task persuading the 3 people  on the interview panel.

  • Hey hon

If by doing that assessment has helped you regain the confidence in how talented and wonderful you are then it's money well spent and will be recouped in no time.

Have a great day :) xx

Thanks for the link Whitefeather, some good tips on there. I like the 'ask the expert' tip.

    Good luck.

    Thanks everyone,

I have completed the Interview Course and my confidence has steadily increased throughout it. I did adapt the answers to the 20 questions considerably, and added my 'stories' as the set answers sounded contrived and 'Americanised', but in fairness that is what I was encouraged to do.

I now feel that I can face the panel as an equal rather than as a naughty child approaching a disciplinary hearing at high school. It is amazing how much I was able to find out about the three interviewers online. I know far more about them than they do about me ;). I keep telling myself I am perfect for the job and will be a real asset to the University :):):).

I feel a bit fat and frumpy though. Although I have lost 7lb, I am still at least a dress size more than I am comfortable with, so today is clothes makeover day :rotfl:. I am going shopping for a new suit, top, bag, folder, hat, gloves and scarf and I will pick up my best coat which I have have put in for dry cleaning.

    Thank you,

I got everything I needed yesterday and more .... I also purchased a lovely pair of leather boots at a bargain price. I am really pleased with my purchases and now DS and I are set up for the winter and I will commit to being a frump no longer!

I was dismayed at my silhouette in the changing room mirrors, and kept asking inwardly why I had let myself go mentally and physically. The truth is, I know the answer to that question, and although I would do things differently now, it is what it is, and I can only influence the 'now'.

The usual missiles were launched my way, which always seem to come when I am making forward strides:-

    1. My cousin phoned to say my dear uncle had died. While this is a blessing in many ways, as my cousin and aunts' lives have been on hold for years as they very lovingly cared for him through Parkinson and Altzheimer's disease, it will mean an unbudgeted trip to the funeral which will be 400 miles away and will necessitate a two nights' stay in a hotel. DH and I have been working out the cheapest way to make the trip. We will be taking my elderly aunt with us too.

    2. Dear Aunt above was concern number two. Her husband, dear uncle, died in February of this year from brain cancer, and I helped her nurse him, until he died peacefully in their home. She lives an hour's drive away from me, in a large house in an expensive, gated community, near quite a rough estate.

While dear uncle was alive they drove everywhere, but she does not have a license, and yesterday on her now customary walk from the bus stop she was mugged, by two men in their 30's, one of whom was on a bike. Although her bag was stolen, she was not hurt physically, but mentally she is very shaken up and is afraid to leave the house.

My dilemma here is that her ony child, DS, lives 500 miles away and having recently left his wife, while suffering from depression, is not really in a position to keep an eye on his mum, and when I start working full-time, my free time will be severely curtailed.

I would love her to move into sheltered accommodation near me, but she is not amenable to the idea. I am not sure how to handle this situation, any suggestions?

    Spider step 29

Finish all interview prep, tidy the house and leave clothes out ready and waiting to step into tomorrow morning.
