What you’ll need to apply for the Green Deal Home Improvement Fund
You will need to have the following paperwork to complete an application:
1. A Green Deal Advice Report or an Energy Performance Certificate which is less than two years old and which recommends the measure(s) you are applying for. Visit http://gdorb.decc.gov.uk/consumersearch to find a Green Deal Assessor in your area. Please note, a refund towards the cost of your Green Deal Advice Report is subject to a successful voucher application, the installation of the eligible measures through the Green Deal Home Improvement Fund and compliance with the scheme terms and conditions.
To get the extra grant for buying the house in the last 12 months - does the work have to be done before 12 months passed or it needs to be less than 12 months at the time of application?0 -

Does this mean you don't actually need Green Deal Assessment to apply for the cashback and less than 2 years old EPC is enough?

You didnt need a GDAR for the last one either, and you could just use a EPC. But a GDAR is around £150 and an EPC is around £50 and you got £100 back so made no difference on the final spend.
Also an EPC won't show as many recommendations as a GDAR, an EPC can only recommend a measure if it make 1 point difference or more. Whereas a GDAR can make a recommendation no mater how small the improvement as long as it greater than zero.
So based on the previous scheme, say you wanted a boiler and external doors to get the £1k cashback but the external doors only made a 0.9 sap improvement this would not be mentioned on the EPC but would be recommended on a GDAR.
So if you just had an EPC you wouldn't be able to claim the £1k but would if you had a GDAR.

On the GDHIF vs1 solid wall insulation could be installed on its own.
I doubt they will allow just one small measure, as the whole purpose of the green deal is to incentive a whole house improvement rather than just subsidizing boilers.

To captainhindsight, or other providers/installers, can I pl explain my situation and ask for advice ( which may be applicable to others?)
I live in a purpose-built block of flats with no gas supply. As cavity wall insulation, boilers, etc are not applicable, what second measure could be included with replacement of the storage heaters ( economy 7)?
Also, £1000 seems a scant amount...what sort of prices are replacement storage heaters, pl?
I also have a tenanted listed property which has a 17yr old W Bosch boiler, which is going strong and will probably outlast a newly-fangled boiler. What second measure could be applicable here? Cavity walls and triple insulation, etc could not be undertaken
I think the problem here is having to install a SECOND measure, which may not be what's really wanted, and will serve to reduce the amount refunded on the main measure required

I bought a house a few months ago and everythings already been done in terms of the various types of insulation. The only thing thats missing is the boiler, thats ancient - its older than I am :eek:
Is there no way to benefit from the home improvement fund if one only needs a boiler ? £1.5k is a lot of money to loose out on and it would go some way towards the boiler.

Why not look at the waste water heat recovery as your second measure? Possibly worth it if there's a few of you in the household. Check out the ReAqua + system which saves water and provides heat recovery. I was going to install this, but ran out of funds.0 -

I'm not a provider or installer, but why not use under floor insulation as your second measure in either property, assuming your floors aren't solid?0 -

It's got to be the waste water heat recovery bit of a pain to retro fit, but you will be looking upto around 1000 for the install depending how difficult it is to fit.
So more of a free waste water heat recovery rather than cheaper storage heaters, which is still worth while."talk sense to a fool and he calls you foolish" - Euripides0
