Yes I would suggest waiting until more details are released until having an assessment done. You could always contact an assessor and book in an assessment for later, I would say after 7th December as this is the date when the methodology and software used for the assessment is being updated to be a more accurate assessment and thus more recommendations are possible.
They can and do make announcements on the weekend.
Re. storage heaters no one knows until info is released. Keep an eye on this website https://www.gov.uk/government/organisations/department-of-energy-climate-change as this is where any announcements will be made first regarding this."talk sense to a fool and he calls you foolish" - Euripides0 -
They say full details for GDHIF will be announced in November.....why so non-specific, and there's only 4 days left ( 29/30th are Sat/Sun)
Are people awaiting details before commissioning the assessment, in case the costs are reimbursed as per the last time, or are these refunded retrospectively anyway?
What is the position with regard to storage heaters, anyone?
Thanks in advance for commentsWhat is the position with regard to storage heaters
- a new measure, a ‘qualifying electric storage heater’, will be introduced under Affordable Warmth
- the savings from repair or replacement of a ‘qualifying electric storage heater’ will be scored in the same way as a ‘qualifying boiler
- that way the savings from repair or replacement of a ‘qualifying electric storage heater’ will be scored in the same way as a ‘qualifying boiler’ and in doing so
- all replacement boilers and electric storage heaters delivered under Affordable Warmth will be required to include a minimum warrantyDisclaimer : Everything I write on this forum is my opinion. I try to be an even-handed poster and accept that you at times may not agree with these opinions or how I choose to express them, this is not my problem. Thanks Richie, but I get the impression that Affordable Warmth is for those on low incomes or benefits....therefore not applicable to me.
The beauty of the last tranche of GDHIF was that it was not income-related!
But the govt could do better than simply saying they'll announce details "in November", effectively suppressing all activity until then, and causing huge overactivity thereafter!0 -
LOL, stick around, plenty of Government related !!!! ups abound in the energy sector.0

I hear good old Mark Group have birthed a Phoenix called My Four Walls. Wolves in Sheeps' clothing. Or was it Lambs? Plan to dominate the world but please do not go anywhere near. I used to work there - trust me, there is no good news!0

Well, it's 29 Nov and no announcement...is this government dept a diva which likes to keep all waiting?
And so many schemes to confuse and baffle customers... Green Deal, Green Deal Home Improvement fund, Eco obligations, Warm Front, Affordable Warmth, Warm Home Discount Scheme, Domestic Heat Renewable Incentive, etc etc
It would be easy to devise a simple scheme which would benefit all/most consumers and substantially reduce carbon emissions
Surely all this nonsense is designed merely to keep staff in these govt departments in cosy jobs and to further enrich that group of exceptionally impoverished tradesmen, heating and gas engineers0 -
........and the automated phone calls have started up again! Had one on Friday which told me I had to get an assessment done by 2016, press x etc etc
Also I seem to be getting more calls about solar panels -is that included in some new Govt. scheme or other??0 -
Why no news?
Are they waiting for the systems upgrade people have referred to on 7 Dec?0 -

Same email received today but as a householder ...
Dear householder
As you may be aware, more funding has been made available for the Green Deal Home Improvement Fund (GDHIF) and we will soon be accepting applications for a second release of funding.
This means that even more households will be able to make energy efficiency improvements - resulting in warmer homes and more control of their energy bills.
Scheme details, rates, measures and terms and conditions for the second release of the scheme will be announced prior to opening for applications.
In the meantime, we wanted to let you know some information about the application process.
What you’ll need to apply for the Green Deal Home Improvement Fund
You will need to have the following paperwork to complete an application:
1. A Green Deal Advice Report or an Energy Performance Certificate which is less than two years old and which recommends the measure(s) you are applying for. Visit http://gdorb.decc.gov.uk/consumersearch to find a Green Deal Assessor in your area. Please note, a refund towards the cost of your Green Deal Advice Report is subject to a successful voucher application, the installation of the eligible measures through the Green Deal Home Improvement Fund and compliance with the scheme terms and conditions.
2. A quote for each energy saving improvement for which an application is made. When you’re getting a quote, compare prices so you know you’re getting the best deal available.
The quote must include:
a) your name;
b) the address of the property to be improved;
c) the name of the installer or provider doing the work.
· The company must be registered to install measures under GDHIF
· The company’s name on the quote, must be the name they’ve used to register with the GDHIF scheme
and
d) for each measure, the total estimated cost of the work to install the measure, inclusive of VAT if applicable and any discount or refund to be applied (either before or after payment) and excluding any finance interest or cost.
Information for undertakings (e.g. landlords)
Applicants who are undertakings (within the meaning of EU law relating to State Aid, for example landlords) must also submit proof of ownership for the property(s) in respect of which they are applying. A list of acceptable ‘proof of ownership’ documents is set out in the Customer Terms and Conditions.
People applying for the scheme must be the Owner or Occupier of the property they are improving. Managing agents will not be eligible to apply under the scheme.
Further information
We may vary the terms of the scheme (including the incentive rates) or suspend or close the scheme, with immediate effect, without notice and at any time. The Green Deal Home Improvement Fund has been an incredibly popular scheme and funds are limited - you will need to provide the above documents when you apply.
We’ll write again soon with the scheme details.
Kind regards
The Green Deal Household Energy Efficiency Team0
