Hi all - I am back too - well we got back yesterday but I too have a bad back and a "dead" leg - weird!! Had it all week so may have to give in and see GP.
Will join you all on the new thread tomorrow. Had a lovely tidy house when we left but the hall is now full of the stuff we took and the extra we brought back - and I don't feel up to sorting it just yet.
Hope everyone is OK, or getting better. xJuly 16 £95/£200

Yes Bossy, first mince pie of the season.
Had a lovely second walk with the dogs once I got moving. Just about to try the moussaka.
Catch you all on the next thread.Spend less now, work less later.0 -
Hi all, thanks for the kind words. DS1 has been much calmer today, bless him, but I know how quickly this can change. He did ask if he could go and eat his dinner in another room, because he just needed to be alone. Its been quite a weekend for him.
All things considered though its been quite a restful weekend for me for once and I feel ready to face what looks as if it is going to be a busy week.
LW - hospital appointments, we have been through something similar. It really shouldnt be that difficult to read your notes and make sure you see the lady should it?
Anyhow, off to put the clean washing away and tidy up a bit. Lots of paid stuff tomorrow.0 -
Challenge Update: I have a dressing gown. However, the Challenge was, to be very precise,
'I will make a dressing gown I can enjoy wearing by the end of October.'
The Challenge was worded exactly that way for a reason. My new dressing gown is not one I am going to enjoy wearing.
So, back to any shop that sells patterns tomorrow, because the pattern itself is part of the problem. I'm not sure if I cut one panel very slightly on the wonk - I don't think so, but it just doesn't hang attractively. And it's huge. And I hate it.Better is good enough.0 -
LW hope the appt gets sorted out soon with the person you want to see.
jttou hope back and leg ease off soon or if not you get an appt to get them sorted
honey, well done on completing the dressing gown part of the challengeSPC~12 ot 124

i couldnt work out why you were saying sorry to me honey, then i just reread your original post that youd edited. sorry to read that your dressing gowwn is not as you wanted it to be, its so infuriating when patterns or fabric dont work hwo you want them to, after all buying patterns and fabric works out dearer than buying ready made a lot of the time (then theres the actual time you put in to doing it)
hope a pattern seller can help you, how about if its possible unpicking it and replacing the pattern on to check the lay of it, or could you recut the pieces a smaller size using the same fabric. sorry if that sounds really technical - i used to work in hosiery and dressmaking in my Bc years (before children)SPC~12 ot 124

I can't complain about the price of the fabric or the pattern - it worked out a lot cheaper than buying anything remotely comparable, but thank you for the suggestion. It'll do until I find exactly what I want and then it'll get cut up for patchwork as an act of vengence! The practise is invaluable and my sewing is coming on in leaps and bounds, so it's not all bad news.Better is good enough.0
