Mrs MP (((HUGS)))and I have to tell you, you have my respect and admiration for dealing so well with a very difficult situation. Thank the gods, Mr LW is able to cry without embarrassment - he sobbed his poor heart out when his sister Ro passed. But we do now talk about Ro often; I feel that while loved ones live on in your heart, they're not truly gone from you. Sorry, I'm rambling now.:o

HB I've decided, I'm adding "make some dusting mitts" to my Toots list.:o I never buy dusters; I use "dead" hankies (ie ones with fraying edges) and Mr LW's worn-out shirts cut into suitable sized bits, so I'm sure I can cobble up some mitts out of old shirt material.:o

Right, I need to go and get the loo scrubbed, else Jack will be here and I won't have done any Flying to speak of.:D

plan was to buy creosote tonight and make a start on painting back fence but the rain is now sideways so forget that. might buy it but not planning to use it till its dry again.

Shopping done and some bargains too, reduced by 70% cricket balls for the club, a C present for DS3 (early for me to start) and lovely half price serving spoons as birthday present for a friend.

Washing in as shower approaching, still damp so on the maidens.

Cuppa now then DS3 will be home. Need to do dinner, make more soup for tomorrow and sort out packed food for DS3's school trip.

Hello everyone, thank you for the lovely warm welcome.

I haven't posted but I have been reading and following (sort of). I am using the lists as a guide but adapting, I am sure I will come up with my own regime as I get into but the lists are really useful to help me create my own so thank you to everyone who put them together.

    Here is my progress

Monday - Bathroom, shower room, toilet - SORT OF DONE
Bathroom gets done properly on a Saturday morning and S&S everyday so I didn't do this. I think I might keep this as a Saturday morning job because I am always a little wiped out on Monday night.
Sorted out washing instead, tidied up sock drawer
    Cleaned out kitchen bin

    Tuesday - Stairs/landing/Airing cupboard/kids room -NOT DONE
The airing cupboard is my frog. Its the one part of my house never to have been decluttered since we moved in a year ago. I can not face it. When we moved and I had 2 extra bedrooms to find bedding for, LOADS of people gave me more, but the reality is I use the same stuff over and over so I have way more than I can ever use. But because people kindly gave me it, I can't get rid of it, how do I deal with it?

    Wednesday - Kitchen and Hall
    15 minutes....

    Wipe over surfaces DONE
Clean toaster / kettle / microwave DONE
    30 minutes to spare....
    Wipe the worksurfaces DONE
Shine your sink and shlosh the plug hole DONE
Hoover and mop the floors DONE
    Got an hour....
    Wipe over the hob DONE
    Clear a hotspot DONE
    Clean out fridge DONE
When are you doing your autumn freezer defrost - today? NOT NEEDED

    Wiped all cupboard fronts/oven door
    Tidied, dusted, vacuumed lounge
Cleaned downstairs loo including wiping all emulsion, and it looks completely different (like its been freshly painted, I'm amazed)
    Fixed loo seat
    Cleared out magazines
Spent 5 mins clearing leaves and twigs off gravel
    Swept car port

Sorry if this post is massive

First sort all the bedding into piles according to size - cot, single, double, etc.
If you have bedding of a size for which you have no further use (e.g. cot bedding but you haven't got a cot any more) put it straight in a box for a charity shop or a charity that helps people who have nothing to set up a new home.

Then tackle one pile at a time.

Sort again into flat sheets, fitted sheets, duvet covers and pillowcases.
If you have sets of duvet covers and pillowcases, put them together. As you do this, check for wear and put any frayed or torn items in a bin bag for recycling.

Now sort each type / set of bedding into three piles:
    - used regularly - no more than 2 sets per bed
    - never used because I don't like it - add this pile to the charity box.
    - Other - choose one more set to keep in case of accidents, then put the rest in the charity box. Be ruthless - you don't need these but other people will be glad to use them.

Fold your "keep" pile neatly and put it away. You could also label the shelf with the size, if you like to be highly organised ;)

Continue with the other piles, keeping only what you really need. Take the box to the charity or shop and recycle the worn and torn pieces as dusters or in the bin.

It is highly unlikely that any of the kind people who gave you the bedding will ask if you are using it!

I can't label the shelves because we keep the house bedding in a settle, along with all the towels. It was a higgle-depiggledy mess until I decided to tie the individual bedding + towel bundles up with tape. Black for the super king, white for the doubles. It means when I have to change a bed I don't have to search through everything looking for an elusive white double fitted sheet. Bliss.
    Better is good enough.
