Ebay invariably find for the buyer. If you say the measurements are wrong the seller loses out...ebay are not going to send someone to your home to confirm sizes.

They said they would make me a specific listing that shows the exact measurements etc and then I would buy that so as long as they made it exactly as per my measurements I would have no grounds for a not as described claim would they?

What are your acceptable tolerences for measurements?

I'm with the seller on this one, as a Business seller myself, we have had many Custom / Special Orders, only for them to be return, for whatever reason & then we're stuck with said item, even though we state that special orders are non-returnable.

One of these was a Special Order of 2 pieces at £2000 each & the person ordered them said they wanted 18" & when they arrived he had made a mistake & required 19", they filed a INAD on Paypal & returned them for a full refund.
We've now had them for 6years & they're currently on eBay for £400 each, a £3200 loss if we ever sell them both.

They're only curtains. As long as they cover the window when shut then I'll be happy. As they would be made wider than half the window each anyway I don't have a problem if they're a few inches out each widthwise I suppose the length is quite important but again,
If to long they could be shortened and if to short I supise I could hang the pole lower a bit. So maybe 4 inches tolerance on the length and up to 6 inches either side?

That's what the seller said. In fact, he'd rather keep the items and you keep your money.

There are two very simple outcomes here. Pony up the money (not plastic paypal).

Decide that you can do with some other design and look locally and see how much a bespoke design in quality fabric is going to cost you.

Well, if you are a seller, paypal is a licence to defraud you.

How long have you got? Shall I pull up a chair and put the kettle on to boil?

Well let's just start with. Payapl/ebay will hand your money back in a flash. He's a business seller, so all you have to do is say, I've changed my mind and you get your money back, no rhyme nor reason. There are many fruitcakes on ebay and it only takes a few to wreck things for you.

You can try what you like, there really isn't any more advice that people can give you that hasn't already been given. Only you can decide what you want to do.

He'd only be a £150 down the drain, not the whole £300.

As JustJohn said earlier in the thread:

"your only other option is to kick up a fuss and get nothing lol"

I'm afraid that paypal/ebay have instilled a sense of entitlement in to their users, a sort of, it's my human rights, ain't it.

Well, unfortunately it isn't. The item belongs to the seller and your cash belongs to you. The day that ebay start to treat both customers fairly (buyer AND seller), will be the day it starts to work again.
  • OP, you've been given plenty of advice here. To be honest, without wanting to be rude, you do sound like the type of buyer who could potentially be problematic, as you don't seem to understand/accept the advice that you've been given here.

I'm afraid that the more I read of this thread, the more I take the side of the seller in refusing to accept Paypal.
