im trying to order a made to measure item from ebay. the cost is in the region of £300. the seller is being very difficult and refusing to accept a payment by paypal as they say they have been scammed before. i have offered to pay via paypal balance rather than with a credit card but they are pnly prepared to accept a bank transfr or cheque which im not happy with. they have 17000+ feedback and are the only people selling what im looking for.
what can i do?

kick up a fuss and ultimately not get the item..
They cannot be forced to sell it to you, the seller can say NO....What ebay do about that is another matter.
Are you collecting the item? ...if so pay cash on collection .0 -

With over 17000 feedbacks, it should be pretty safe.0

Or they might pocket my cash and send me nothing.0 -
Is there really no seller protection with paypal?0

Or they might pocket my cash and send me nothing.
They might. The seller wants protected, and you want protected. As the seller has what you want, the seller is in the position of power here.
Unfortunately for you, you can't bully them into bending to your terms. Decide how much you want it, take into account their feedback, and decide if you want to take the risk or not.0 -

In what way is the seller not protected with paypal?
The 17000 has been built up of smaller orders where they have accepted paypal.0 -
I am perhaps seeing this in a different way and personally I would not want to deal with this seller and would happily walk away after reporting them to eBay.
The feedback is good, but who knows whether the account is being used by a new owner of the business and believes their work to be of a quality where people might want to return things? If the seller is happy with their goods and sends things properly tracked and insured they would be fine with a PayPal payment and do in fact have protection due to these items being made to measure.
You can't force seller to take PayPal, but if they are happy to break eBay rules, what else are they happy to play fast and loose with- including your money that you would struggle to get back if it does go wrong.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards.
