My update might be somewhat disjointed, as my head's all over the place at present, but I'd better write something or we'll fall off the front page.....:o

Hope you all had a good Bank Holiday. Ours was...err.. busy. ;) We waved off our newlywed visitors last night as the weather closed in and it became ominously dark, Then DW saw DD2's handbag still sitting on a chair.....Aaarrggghhh!

So, instead of collapsing in a heap, as I usually do when guests depart,I leapt into the car and went in hot pursuit. Yes, DW was phoning and texting like mad, but with them in the twilight zone beyond the village, it may as well have been blooming smoke signals! :(

Eventually, as they emerged from a deep valley 15 miles away, near civilisation, all the texts came through and DD stopped their car, allowing me to catch up and hand over the bag full of essential stuff. Just as well, I'd never have caught them before the motorway.

We had a few good days, including a walk yesterday, just before the weather broke, when I shot this picture that may interest you horse lovers

Bare-back, eh? :) I was also impressed with the young swimmers...I mean it was warm, but not that warm!

Very odd weather - cloud bursts and low cloud & much cooler.

Not dry enough to shear - which is becoming a bit stressy to say the least.

Not doing much outdoors as it's so wet & when dry so midgied. Poor people in tents.

Dog at vets as he has urine infection and barked all night to be let out - he's so clean but feel like a half shut knife today as got very little sleep.

Saw a kingfisher the other day - just a bright blue blur but never having seen one before I had to ask someone what I'd just seen by describing it. Seems that there is ones spotted where I saw it regularly so missed it up till now.

Starting to get dark earlier again - seems too early bu nearly into September I suppose. It's been a strange Summer this year - very wet even for here.

    hiya peeps

cant see a pic dave ?

well last Friday "did" the dorset steam fayre with young rosie [9] and it was HOT ... I think she said hello to evry heavy /carriage horse on the site ! AND said hello to every dog on the site ! so after 6 hours of trekking the fayre I was feeling my age !! one of the few true country fayres left I think .... not a hot tub or conservatory furniture in sight ! twas great day out [its 4/5 day event ]

had mum over sunday [year since dad passed] just had a nice chat and walk in the garden .

Tuesday was mega hot [hit 30] and I had the farrier and the vet almost at the same time [got my wires crossed when I booked em ]
so I was trying to catch hot irritable hoss's for one and trying to get another up to the stable for vet .. who didn't want to leave the others ! I swear I lost a stone in weight running up and down ....
vet was just to check riding ponies teeth to ensure his bit fits properly.

today I took rosie for a hack at the stables she has been having lessons at ..... disappointed to say the least .. she was on a ride with absolute "never been on a horse before" kids/adults ... she was on a lead rein all the way ? and they just walked the lanes with about 500yds of forest . luckily she was next to another 10yr old girl and they chatted as they WALKED ! her father had brought her from surrey as a treat ! she had ridden for a few years ?
I queried why they hadn't got to trot / canter etc and was told as the others couldn't then they didn't !! I wasn't happy [its not cheap !! ] didn't cause a fuss in front of others but will return and either get a refund or they can sort out a proper ride for her ...
    sorry moan over now

we got a fair few bales of hay off field no2 so happy for that .
weve not had any real rain just a few drops.. temps have dropped a bit but still 18+

I have the opticians tomorrow for new reading and driving glasses ... lost a pair in the long grass yesterday and of course was harder finding them as I couldn't see s*d all !! need spares !

well hope you have all had a good week and the weekend coming xx

I have reloaded it differently, but it was there for me all the time. If it still isn't there for you, I will throw it onto a different host and see if that helps. :)

OK, time for another picture test!

Out on our walk the other day, we accidentally stumbled on what dear Uncle Boris must've discovered just a few weeks before us: a Magic Money Tree! ;):j

Apparently, these trees with coins hammered into them may be found throughout the land ....well ...south of Hadrian's Wall! :o

Would have to be South of the border as they'd be prised out North of it.

Goodness never seen one of those.

Torrential rain here overnight and this morning water lying everywhere.

Arrrggghhh!....we've been invaded by Outlaws now! :(

Nevertheless....we've been attempting to live normally and construct a simple garden arch in our 'spare' time. Big mistake. By the time we noticed it had gone wrong, the concrete had set and it took ages to dig the damn thing up again!

I think it's OK this time around, but making progress at present is painful. Still chasing the plumber as well. :undecided At least the weather is mostly on-side.

Sam started proper school yesterday, as did one of his cousins. Seeing the shared photos of them in their school gear made us aware of how fast the time passes.

Sam's Dad has contracted Lyme disease from a tick bite and is on antibiotics. He already had symptoms whilst here,so we don't think the infection arose from their Devon holiday.

Digitalis lutea, as it's name suggests, is a small, yellow foxglove, but we have one that's pink and rather pretty. We'll be taking the seed from it to see if it breeds true:

I'm so sorry about Sam's dad - Hope that they get it sorted as it is a debilitating condition. Seems to be very much on the increase.

Lovely flower Dave - most unusual.

Still getting heavy showers here & not done anything outside this year really. Things seem to be sprouting out of control so will have to hack back stuff soon.
